Default OT - Brown sugar as a face mask

Hello, ladies,

This is not about low carb lifestyle, but it does involve the main
culprit of LC - sugar.

I recently purchased a face cleanser from a little boutique. In the
instructions they recommended mixing brown sugar with a few drops of
water and applying it over the cleanser for several minutes. They say
that the smoothing effect of the cleanser will be enhanced. I tried
it, and I liked the results. However, am I just seeing a placebo
effect, or does brown sugar really smooth the skin out?

Thanks for the input!

Far as I know, and I could be wrong, it simply exfoliates the skin.

any exfoliant will smooth the skin. try salt. it's cheaper, and won't
tempt you to have a taste. :-)

Sugar is a natural exfoliant. I have a few brown sugar scrubs, they're
excellent. I prefer them to salt scrubs.

Hi, Kelly!

Thanks for the reply. I'm not tempted to have a taste at all - brown
sugar with face cleanser... YUCK! But it does wonders for the skin -
I really like it!

Thanks for your replies, Lynn and LCer09.

Never thought of sugar as an exfoliant. But it works great, and is
not as irritating as salt.
