Default Musings, whoosh, foods...

Here are some random Monday morning thoughts....

#1
I LOVE the Morning Start cereal w/ Carb Countdown milk. If the cereal
wasn't so **** expensive I'd have it for many a morning breakfast.

#2
Splurging from time to time seems to really be helping me, both physically
and mentally. In the past two weeks I've had 2 Vietnamese "bun" noodle
bowls, a few onion rings, some tortilla chips from time to time...I'll have
half of an apple occasionally, and sometimes I'll nibble on the kid's
leftovers like fish sticks or the occasional chicken nugget. Like many have
said, if you eat it and get it out of your system (so to speak) it becomes
less of a forbidden treat that you miss constantly. Not only have I not
gained, but....

#3
I managed to hit a new low! Woke up one morning after a couple of weeks at
185 and I was at 182 :-)

#4
Low carbing has really taught me so much about food in general. Now I can
easily gauge calories, fat, carb content, etc., of a food much more easily
than I ever could have in the past. Knowing this information makes it so
much easier to control your eating, both in portions and in content. I'm
startnig to trend away from "metabolic advantage" school of thought towards
a calorie based approach, and now I'm equipped with the tools to make it a
success either way!

#5
I wish I could draw. I've been reading books, including the excellent
"Learning to Draw on the Right Side of the Brain". Ironically, if I
practiced I would probably get better, but when I have downtime, I never
feel like drawing. Does that mean it's not something I really want? ;-)
Either that or I'm terrified of failing, which is also entirely possible
(and likely). I want to draw a nice pencil drawing of my daughter, and I
want to be able to draw cartoons like anime.

#6
Is my desire to draw cartoons simply a manifestation of my feelings of
growing older and losing my youth? ;-)

#7
Any software companies in Austin TX hiring? :-)

#8
I really need to start exercising. At goal I will I swear!

#9
I had more thoughts but quite frankly I'm a bit too hungover to remember
them at the moment :-)

Musing right back at you ...

Reaching your goal weight without including exercise to keep metabolism
up is self defeating. You are trapping yourself into a life of
restricted eating to maintain your goal weight, and very likely
guaranteeing that any weight loss you achieve will not be permanent.

You should start exercising now; it will speed weight loss and make
maintaining a permanent healthy weight far more easily achievable. It is
much easier to build/maintain muscle volume now than it is to rebuild it
later. If you wait until you are at goal, the amount of dietary
restriction that you need to maintain your weight will lower energy
levels and make exercising and building muscle/metabolism far more
difficult. Also, it is a self-discipline issue, you need to build up an
realistically achievable exercise regime slowly, not try to jump into
the deep end when at a goal weight.

Try low levels of exercise at set times, just to develop a routine, then
slowly increase intensity as your body and muscles adapt.

David

Vitacost.com has it cheap too, but they sell your email to spam lists. Any
idea how safe vitaglo.com is in this regard?

To Roger/David,

I actually did about 30 minutes of cardio after I wrote that post...So, I
guess you could say "I have" :-)

I cannot say. However, I have a special hotmail account that I use
exclusively for online ordering. They are pretty good about filtering spam
to the bulk/junk mail folder, so spam it's not much of a problem for me.
