Skin Dryness
Ive been on atkin's for over a year now and am on the 4 stage of it. Ever
since the begging I felt dehydrated, and still do. I can't seem to be able to get hydrated no matter how much water I drink. Any ideas on what I could do to get more hydrated? When I wake up in the morning my tounge is so dry that I have to soak it in a glass of water to bring my mouth back to life. I feel like a piece of balsa wood.:-( |

I don't know what you eat, or what else you might drink, but I know that the first thing I want when I wake up is a bottle of water. Nothing wrong with that. Not only normal, but probably a GOOD thing! |

Some of your skin dryness and dry mouth could be due to the air in your
home. Perhaps a humidifier would help. |

For several years, I had an almost constant thirst and often a terrible taste in my mouth. I was checked several times, but the glucose tests always came back as normal -- until last June, that is. Suddenly, I had a fasting glucose of 289 (defiitely not good). I underwent a drastic change of diet (perhaps not true low-carb, but very much lower-carb than before) and take one 500mg Metformin (a very low dose) per day. My blood sugar is now under control...and I have lost that terrible taste and incessant thirst. In fact, now I have to "remind myself" to drink more water -- something that I never had to do in the past. Incidentally, I am convinced that I had diabetes for several years before being diagnosed. I have read that this is very common. I feel better now than I had felt for at least 2 or 3 years. MaryL |
