"vegetarian" lunch
When I registered for this out of town class I'm in, there was a large spot
on the form that said "Check here for vegetarian lunch" - lunch is provided daily. Even though I'd planned to bring my own stuff, I checked it thinking there might be a salad or some veggies or something I could eat. Friday's lunch was a choice between pork hot dish or turkey hot dish. For those who don't know, hot dish is basically a casserole of some sort. These looked like some kind of meat and sauce with mashed potatoes on top. Wisconsin is the only place I know where turkey is a vegetable. Fortunately there was a bowl of lettuce and I had my own dressing so I had that with my acorn squash & HMR shakes I'd brought with me. Today's lunch was "make your own sandwich" with lunchmeat and cheese on white or wheat bread. The sides were potato salad with egg and mayo and cole slaw. There were some tomato slices so I took a few to dice up and eat with my veggie stir fry and baked potato. Actually, some people were jealous because my lunch looked and smelled better than the sandwiches And by the way, stir "frying" broccoli stalks with peppers, onions, and mushrooms in ginger and garlic is an awesome baked potato topping, even as leftovers. Eventually I'll be able to eat things like sandwiches if I choose and I definitely would have been able to make due with today's choices in my planned WOE. Tomorrow I'm bringing the last of my potatoes and a soybean chili HMR entree. Due to the long drive home in the evening I plan to eat my big meal at lunch and have a shake in the evening. It looks like you've had few problems staying with your woe while on this
trip - congratulations! Travel can be tough on many healthy eating plans. Beverly "Jennifer Austin" wrote in message ... "vegetarian" lunch
Wisconsin is
the only place I know where turkey is a vegetable. LOL Don't be so sure. I was a strict vegetarian for years and had to be in the hospital for several days due to a totally unrelated medical procedure. I told them I was a vegetarian. They brought me all kinds of veggies smothered in beef gravy! ugh When I called for a new tray I was told "Well, there's just a 'little bit' of beef in the gravy, it doesn't count, and this was by the dietitian! After 3 hours, I actually got a meal. I guess beef gravy is a veggie in Ohio too ~Kat "Rice Krispies. East meets west" Cosmo Kramer |

How about when you tell people you're a vegetarian and they say "So do you eat fish?" Since when did fish grow on plants? ) Rowena. P.S. This is Diva_ex_machina. I decided to change my nickname in case people got me confused with the other Diva. 273/225/150 (123/101/68) |

"Perple Glow" wrote in message . net... That is pretty funny.... Anyway, how are you handling the non-potato veggies? Your stomach tolerating?? -- Email me at: perpleglow(AT)comcast.net I am totally vegging and doing fine. I brought a bag of fresh broccoli with me in my cooler and used the hotel microwave to steam it up for dinner (with the entree). I brought a few servings of my acorn squash with me too in addition to the potatoes. Last night I picked up a Subway veggie salad (no pickles or olives) to eat with my dinner. I've switched from applesauce to fresh plums, watermelon, raspberries, and apples. No more belly aches like last week. The dietician wanted me to shoot for 1300 cal so that's where I've been - about 1200-1300 cal/day the last few days. I'll be dropping another shake for an entree by the end of this week unless they accelerate me again and just add the second entree. I go in again on Wed. I haven't seen a scale for days, but the pants-o-meter is doing fine. I think I'm retaining some water though because my rings are getting harder to slip on. Jenn 300/145 |

I thought there were different levels/types of vegetarianism. |
