After my Core experiment, when weight zoomed up from 81 kg to like
84.8, it started coming down again, slowly, when I went back to
strict
calorie counting.

But then it hovered at 84.4 for a couple of weeks and for some
reason
this morning jumped to 85.8 kg!

What is happening?

I am not sure what to try at this point. Naturally, no matter what
I
do, I will not exceed my daily calorie limit of 1700, but I feel I
need to change something already.

This is getting very depressing.

The problem is that I might simply need to eat fewer calories per
day.
Like maybe 1300 or 1400 instead of 1700. Maybe my metabolism has
just
slowed down.

But I feel like a big change in calorie rules would be "setting me
up
for a big fall" if I suddenly tried even harder calorie
restrictions.

Nevertheless, looking at what WW would allocate to me, point-wise,
it
came to just 28 points/day (which I calculated during my free
one-week
online trial). That is about 1400 calories/day. Of course WW has
those
35 free points per week, which comes to about 1750 calories,
whereas I
am giving myself just 1000.

Mammoth amounts of exercise per day are also just not realistic. I
know me. If I do 30 minutes to an hour of walking a day I feel I've
done well.

Any diet plan has to be something that can be reasonably followed -
forever. If it is too cumbersome, then I know I would fall off the
wagon.

Speaking of exercise, WW also calculates exercise points
differently
than I do. I have been giving myself full calorie credit for all
exercise and deducting exercise calories from calories I've eaten -
and have allowed myself to carry this over all week, until I reset.
I
believe in WW you have to "use them or lose them" the day you do
your
exercise, right? Also, I don't think WW gives you full credit
towards
eating points for the exercise you do - doesn't come to like half,
calorie-wise?

Anyway, conservation of energy is conservation of energy. It's
either
less calories and/or more exercise. I know it. But I don't know if
I
really have the will power to make a radical change in a plan I've
been able to stay on so long now without going off even one time...

So I'm up against reality.

But... it is definitely time for a diet tweak of some kind...

doug

Doug, presuming that you are sitting most of the day in the office,
on
the UK system you'd be on 28 points per day only: NO flex points on
our
system! Then you can earn as many exercise points as you like in the
week, but you may only consume 14 of them: the rest go down to weight
loss. And you can consume those points at any time in the week, not
just on the day you earn them, so you can save them up for a party or
meal out if you like!

Quick question: does anybody here know how many ww points the hostess
100 calorie packs are?

I believe they are 2 points.

BTW, a general rule of thumb is 1 point per 50 calories. Here is the
exact
formula:

points= [calories + (4 * fat grams) - (10 * fiber grams)] / 50 with a
maxium
of 4 fiber grams allowed.

Check the product information for these 100 calorie packs. My WW
friend says the chocolate ones have more fiber, and are just 1 point per
package!

You are correct. I had the Golden ones here but not the chocolate. I googled
"hostess cupcakes" and found the NI online.

Chocolate: 100 cal/3g fat/5g fiber = 1.4 points===1 pt
Golden: 100 cal/3g fat/3g fiber = 1.6 points===2 pt
Carrot Cake: 100 cal/3g fat/3g fiber = 1.6 points===2 pt

Have you ever been tested for food allergies? You seem to have multiple
foods that your body reacts to in negative ways.

have never been formally tested, the one time I went to the allergist I
tested no allergies for 65 things. I went to a clinic at Barnes hospital in
St. Louis... after the test I realized the allergist was uncomfortable...
then he says you look so familiar and I know I haven't seen you in my
office... I said no but you have seen both of my parents, I give him their
names he leaves and returns in ten minutes... and says...:1. your father has
multiple allergies and so does your mother.
2. you are sitting here with a dog guide and have indicated you smoke.
3. Your histamine patch show normal.
4. given your genetics and lifestyle you should show positive but aren't, I
can do "elite" testing but it is around $10k *back in the 80s* so I said no
thanks... then he says take benadryl for 2 weeks every day before you go to
bed. then eliminate every single thing you have an overt reaction to and
then after six months add one back at a time and see what happens...

I tell you all of this because I am rambling and I am in fact to lots of
things... odd things like I can eat fresh berries including strawberries,
but if I eat even a single berry that is frozen I swell and have difficulty
breathing... recently I seemed to have a reaction to black berries that were
frozen so I will have to not do that again..

I think allergy testing has come a long way since the 80's. It might be
worth getting tested again. You may have developed new allergies too. There
are no allergies in my family history but my sister recently discovered that
she is allergic to eggs and shellfish which as a kid and young adult she
could eat without any problems. I don't know if it could be menopausal
related (she's 54) or not but the timing is about right.

Honestly, I have developed enough coping mechanisms that I am not really
interested in spending the time, let alone the money for the testing... even
at their worst, they generally aren't life threatening so trial and error
and major avoidance seems to work, I have read menopause can trigger/change
allergies, Lee

I

Anyway, conservation of energy is conservation of energy. It's
either
less calories and/or more exercise. I know it. But I don't know if
I
really have the will power to make a radical change in a plan I've
been able to stay on so long now without going off even one time...

So I'm up against reality.

But... it is definitely time for a diet tweak of some kind...

doug

Doug, presuming that you are sitting most of the day in the office,
on
the UK system you'd be on 28 points per day only: NO flex points on
our
system! Then you can earn as many exercise points as you like in the
week, but you may only consume 14 of them: the rest go down to weight
loss. And you can consume those points at any time in the week, not
just on the day you earn them, so you can save them up for a party or
meal out if you like!

points= [calories + (4 * fat grams) - (10 * fiber grams)] / 50 with a
maxium
of 4 fiber grams allowed.

Check the product information for these 100 calorie packs. My WW
friend says the chocolate ones have more fiber, and are just 1 point per
package!

Cup cakes YAYAE!! ha hahaaaaaaa
How many calories? Do calories come in fractions? This gets me
thinking aout whole wheat cupcakes sitting on the window frame. With
lemon insides (yeah!), and that crustly sprinkly stuff that they put
on ice cream. It might look fuzzy on a cupcake but I bet it will taste
great Thanks for the idea..
