I had heat flashes. It seemed to correspond with my weight loss. It was almost like I could tell when my body switched over to burning fat instead of carbs or when it ran out of food-supplied fuel to burn and started burning stored fat. I didn't mind it too much, for me it served as an indicator that what I was doing was working. Don't know if I could stand being cold all the time, though. Amanda |

Give www.fitday.com a try, it's free, and calculate a normal day's worth of food. Get the calories, then go to www.global-fitness.com/bmr.html and get your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate.) Add in whatever exercise you do, even if it's just reading or surfing the web, it counts as increasing your metabolism. Your BMR will give you a reading of how many calories your body needs to just keep alive, and then the activity figures in what you need to move throughout the day. Compare the two. How far apart are they? I'd bet you are not eating enough, and that your metabolism is slowing down to save calories. Slower metabolism = colder body ;-) But if you are eating enough, then heck, crank the heat if you can afford it, drink something hot, or put on another sweater. Body fat is a great insulator, but it's not worth keeping around just for that. :-) Sarah Jahn |

I found out that mine's out of whack (low) and one of the symptoms is cold hands & feet. trebor |

I'm a lot cooler, but that's a good thing.. I used to just sweat
sitting or moving.. it was pretty gross.. I thought about that the other day -- I haven't felt hot in ages, or sweat during the day.. it's really cool. d. |
