While you people torture yourselves, I got a whole box of Easter candy to enjoy. Who's being tortured? I enjoyed the most delicious bar of sugar-free chocolate today. wondering how much it will take to completely push this **** over the edge I guess now I know! Didn't think he could resist the subject line for long. *giggle* Rachel (New Zealand) |

I'm willing to put five quatloos on it. :-) He was unsuccessful taking the ranting approach, and from what some other posters have said apparently got reported to his ISP. Probably decided we just weren't worth the trouble of having to swap ISPs. If he morphs we'll be able to spot him fairly quickly - especially once the spittle starts to fly. G Take care, Carmen |

You want PROOF - NOW HANDICAPPED PARKING
On 11-Apr-2004, "marengo" wrote: I have a disability, and the handicap parking spaces often make the difference between my being able to go in a store or not. (I ihave good days when I can walk farther than other days). This is interesting. I have the same problem with my mobility. Some days I could walk better then others. Anyhoo...when I was with Mike sometimes we used to head to different stores for a bit of shopping. He drove (naturally!!) and for a time we got into a lengthy yet ongoing discussion of whether or not I should get a disability permit for parking when we were in his car. As I am on disability I saw no problem in my getting one but since I *could* walk without the use of a cane or a device (albeit more slower on some days then others) I was somewhat against getting one for the simple reason I might be taking up a space needed by someone in a wheelchair or a scooter. After a few weeks of him and I bantaring this discussion around (I am such a procrastinator on stuff like that) I decided to look into it just to see what the requirements were. I found out if you could walk into the store from a certain distance you were ineligible for a disability parking permit. I *could* walk into a store from that distance so one day in the Tracker I told him what I found out (I *think* it was in the Tracker) and inside I was rather glad I could NOT get a permit. I think I was even sitting in the car quietly smiling about that after i had told him while he was driving. I would *never* want to take a space from someone who truly needed it much much more then I did because I didn't need it. just wanted to share. Jaime |

I have a disability, and the handicap parking spaces often make the difference between my being able to go in a store or not. (I ihave good days when I can walk farther than other days). What infuriates me most is to see some able-bodied young punk (it's usually teenage girls though) who borrowed Grandma's handicap placard -- or car with the hc plates -- and park in the handicap spot, then go bopping across the parking lot. I learned that by law in this state, the police can't question someone about the legitimacy of their handicap if they have a placard, unless there's a complaint. But I sure as heck can! I've been known to park bumper to bumper behind one of these clowns, blocking them in with my car, then taking my time shopping. (I figure I'm not going to die from being overweight or any blood sugar related illness; you'll more likely see my body on CNN after I'm shot in a fit of road rage by somebody I ****ed off who was parking illegally in the handicap spot). My wife has MS. She'll often park in the handicap spot and go "bopping across the parking lot" into the store, because, after 10 or 15 minutes in the store, she knows its going to be a struggle to get back to the car. She doesn't use a cane (yet), and on many days her condition is invisible. I understand how you feel, because I know we get frustrated when we can't find a disabled spot, or another close spot. However, before you go blocking someone in, imagine how you would feel after getting out of the store with your legs feeling like cinder blocks only to find that some &$#**%! has blocked you in. Oh yeah, then the stress exacerbates the MS symptoms, then the bladder urgency kicks in. I'm not singling you out, as I totally understand your frustration. I'm just hoping that people use a little common sense and compassion overall, and understand that not all disabilities are immediately visible. -Rob |
