Man sues Atkins over heart problems
http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/diet.....ap/index.html
This dude gained 8 pounds, went on Atkins and blames the Atkins WOE for his heart problems. This is what he said: "For 21/2 years, I extolled the virtues of this diet to anyone who listened because I was losing weight and I felt great. But when I started, I had no idea I was making a deal with the devil for trying to keep a 32-inch waistline". Sheesh, the guy spent 2 1/2 years on Atkins to lose 8 pounds? I would've given that up after a month if it didn't work! BTW, been on Atkins AFTER a heart attack and a couple heart surgeries. Cholesterol dropped and my heart is fine...however, I checked with my doctor before and during Atkins, been on maintenance but recently gained (from over eating) 3 pounds and am back at it, lowered carbs than normal, cheesecake for breakfast. All the thing is is a series of adjustments, gain a bit, back off some carbs, lose too much, add a few carbs. How simple is that? Cookie |

BTW, just saw this guy on the evening news, very gaunt and anorexic looking.
He was seated with his "backers" a vegan group! Whata surprise...not! * "backers"=Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine= http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/ these folks are also against experiments that include animals. I wonder why these "physicians" didn't expect this guy to seek medical advice before and during his "dieting"? Seems rather negligent doesn't it? It's a perfect contemporary example of "double think". http://www.orwelltoday.com/doublethink.shtml -- Bob Kanyak's Doghouse http://www.kanyak.com |

This guy and his lawyer were on the Today show this morning. His
cholesterol went up after 2 months on the diet yet he stayed on it for 2 1/2 years. He only had 8 pounds to lose or so he said I'm willing to bet this guy was never on Atkins he's just ones of the skinny people who have high cholesterol. I hope the court throws him and his suit out of court. Above all Dr Atkins says in his book to check with your doctor. |

From the PCRM website, regarding this fiasco:
More than 20 million people are following some version of this diet. and later in the article: The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) has received more than 560 complaints of illnesses and fatalities allegedly related to Atkins-type diets Is anyone else really impressed with this? I don't think you could get 20 million people to go to Heaven and only get 560 complaints about it. |

Yeah, look at the Government's version of diet advice: supposedly 200 million people in the US are obese. That's not a great endorsement of that diet (assuming that all people are actually following the diet). -- Bob in CT Remove ".x" to reply |

Did anyone see this guy last night on the Dan Abrams show? Totally obnoxious -
I hope he loses big time and racks up some huge legal fees. |
