Sanofi to Pursue Approval of Weight-Loss Drug By BLOOMBERG NEWS Sanofi-Aventis, the French drug maker that suffered a setback to efforts to market its Acomplia drug last week, said yesterday that it still planned to start selling the product for weight loss this year. Acomplia has been linked to side effects including depression. Mr. Dehecq repeated in a televised interview that he expected the drug to generate peak sales of about $3 billion "but until we have the label nobody knows exactly." |

So far, every new weightloss drug fails. The drug companies think that a
drug that leads to a 5% improvement in weight is a marketable thing. There are a couple of drugs that work, but they are illegal. They have little complications such as insanity or death.
