Induction/ goal weight help
I have done the induction phase am at a good weight for a man. I am large
framed and am 5'10" and now weigh 170 from a high of 185. My problem is how do I stay low carb and not continue to lose weight ? I am doing low carb mostly because of a high cholestrol and high triclyceride problem. If I continue at this pace I will become underweight. Should I skip to pre-maintenence and go right to life time maintenence? How many carbs should I add this week because I feel on only 5 carb increments would be too little to keep me from continued weight loss. Any help would be appreciated. Mike |

Induction/ goal weight help
You could always start by adding 10 a week until you get a feel for what is
comfortable for you. Just be careful and watch the scale weekly at least! Great job on your success! ~*~Pie~*~ "Poppy M" wrote in message ... Mike The way I read the Atkins book implied that the Pre-maintenance was a vital part in determining the amount of carbs you can eat without gaining or losing weight (i.e. your CCLL and CCLM). I would have thought that you would not be successfull in maintaining your weight loss without determining these levels..... But if you're in a rush then 10g increments should be okay. But then again, I'm still a newbie who hasn't finished induction, so someone else better qualified may be able to point out a flaw in my arguement! P Steven. 213/204/160 since 3 Jan '04 |

I am 5'6" and using body fat percentages my ideal weight is 170-175. Your numners sound low to me. My problem is how do I stay low carb and not continue to lose weight ? Most low carb plans will not take you below your true ideal weight. I am doing low carb mostly because of a high cholestrol and high triclyceride problem. If I continue at this pace I will become underweight. Don't worry. Loss stops. You will not be in danger. Should I skip to pre-maintenence and go right to life time maintenence? How many carbs should I add this week because I feel on only 5 carb increments would be too little to keep me from continued weight loss. If you are on Atkins continue your schedule: 20, 20, 25, 30, 35 ... Normally folks spend an entire week out of ketosis to find their CCLL and it is 5-10 under the amount that knocks them out of ketosis. The premaintenance phase starts at the level that knocked you out of ketosis, so rather than returning lower at that point to get back into ketosis, write down that number because now it will be your minimum and continue increasing on schedule. At this point you'll need to weigh daily and track your water retention swing. It'll be a range of perhaps 6 pounds. One week your range will shift up at your new carb intake. Maybe you'll get cravings, too. This is your CCLM. That will conclude Premaint. Maintenance has you stay at least CCLL and at most CCLM from then on. Everyone is different so there is no telling the numbers. CCLLs range from 15 to 150. CCLMs range from 20 to over 200. You just have to find out for yourself. |
