"You on a Diet"
"AKA gray asphalt" wrote in message ... How do you like the recumbent bike? I like the recumbent bike better than a regular exercise bike. It is more comfortable to sit on. And I can read a book while exercising. I have to squeeze in reading during the busy times of year--and I do love to read! Do you think the Jack La Lane juicer is any better at retaining the fiber? I drink a lot of juice but it's replacing soda pop so I think that's good. I don't use juicers at all. I like the whole fruit. The most I do is mix nonfat plain yogurt with fruit and blwent them into a smoothie. I would imagine if you just ground them all up into juice, they would have the same fiber as the fruit does. But I've never done that. You would certainly have more control of what was in the juice if you made it yourself. "teachrmama" wrote in message ... "AKA gray asphalt" wrote in message ... Did you incorporate any of the suggestions? I'm eating a lot of apples ... btw does taking fresh apples and juicing them change the fiber content? Does apple juice from the store have fiber? Thanks : -) I have been living a new way of life since May 12 when I found out my blood pressure was very, very high. I have lost 74 pounds to date and feel much better than I have in over a decade. I got the book because it sounded like a good read and I had seen the authors on television and was interested in their theory about the waist measurement being a more informative measurement than one's weight. Some of the suggestions--such as eating the same breakfast and lunch every day--I had already begun. The 30 minutes of walking was something I also did already--although it isn't always walking. During the summer it was swimming, and in inclement weather I use a treadmill or ride my recumbent exercise bike. The food choices and suggestions are very close to what I already do. The information on how the body works and the brain chemicals that affect weight, hunger, etc, were very interesting. I finished reading the book last week, and will read it again when school is out for winter break and I have some relaxation time. I think it is well worth reading. As for fiber in juice, most apple juice does not contain fiber. That is one of the reasons that doctors say that juice is not the best option for children. Parents think that they are promoting health--but juice contains a lot of sugar (fructose). There are juices out there with "added fiber," but it makes much more sense just to eat the fruit and get the great fiber that naturally occurs there. That pulpy part that is left after you squeeze out the juice is where the fiber is. |

"You on a Diet"
Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking about a recumbent bike.
