A better day today
No alcohol. Virtually no carbohydrates. Long walk in the evening.
How long do you guys generally exercise for? I guess a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. |

Don't compare yourself to others. We all are different ages and weigh different amounts and have different histories when it comes to exercising. Pick something you like to do and do it! Don't think of yourself as making yourself exercise---think of it as something you really like to do. Just because I swim a mile doesn't mean your efforts are worthless. They're not! It's a start and you will get better and do more as you become more physically fit. Compare yourself only to yourself. One thing I find that helps is to get a large calendar and write on it what I do everyday. Hah! Just the act of writing down my exercise makes me feel as if I have accomplished something! It's a tangible way to see my progress. Walking is great exercise and you'll sleep better at night, too. Pat in TX |

I generally shoot for 1/2 hour of exercise a day, if it is a walk I do what they call high impact walking. This is walking for 3 minutes at a regular speed and then increasing to very fast walking (not jogging) for one minute. I go back to the 3 minutes slow, and repeat it as many times as I can. This really helps me kick start the weight loss, before I know it I'm walking very quickly for 15 minute and haven't noticed that I forgot to slow down. Your absolutely right, it all starts with one step, a friend told me yesterday to take a pound of butter out of my fridge and just look at it, every pound I lose is losing one of those bricks off of some point of my body. The visualization really helps me to celebrate each pound of progress. |
