perceived hunger. The pangs come and go, so does that mean they aren't
real?

There real. What may not be real is your need to eat.

Should I be down on my belly about to pass out before I get to real
hunger? My mind tells me it ought to be real hungery since I haven't eaten
in a while.

Match your mind with reality. Will you suffer some disorder if you do not
eat or will you simply remain uncomfortable? Is your body telling
you...what?

This is a perfect example of what I mean when I say your body will lie to
you. If hunger = physiological requirement to eat, the your body is lying
to you, Roger.

I just got back from the gym with the weights and finishing off
with 20 minutes on teh dreadmill. I don't normally do the dreadmill and I
felt dizzy after getting off. I feel fine now, though, so I assume that was
just due to being on and then getting off the moving platform.

New treadmill exercise, for many, will create this "I'm still on it"
syndrome which will go away after more regular use. Could be that, could be
the empty tummy, could be both or neither.

Are you in ketosis?

Yes, the pangs are real. I meant to ask if they represent real hunger.

Hmm....my mind tells me that at some point I will suffer some malady if I
don't eat. The question is, how do I match up my mind, body, and reality?
Why does a body generate hunger signals if there is no need to eat?

::

So how does one determine when and how much to eat, if hunger does mean eat?

I think it was the 'I'm still on it' syndrome as the weight lifting was much
harder then the treadmill.

::
:: Are you in ketosis?

Don't know, don't care.

And that's a problem why? I don't get why genetic engineering is so scary,
but crossbreeding the old-fashioned way is ok. One's just faster than the
other.

A **lot** faster. You'd be surprised how hard it used to be to get
the fish to have sex with the strawberries and the potatoes.

Not

Yes it is. It is also nice to read that another has experienced the
similair.

And many people are obese because buying starches is cheaper than meat.
I'm
not talking about junk food. I'm talking about rice, potatoes, and
flour.
It's not all black and white.

Yes, I agree. Before starting atkins, its what we did eat alot of. Rice,
potatoes, flour. Meat to some is very expensive.

This is also how I grew up - low fat, high-starch (potatoes, rice,
beans, flour, white (homemade) bread. Not junk food, not cookies,
cakes, candy. There were *some* treats (usually homemade) but not many.

We were also poor. There were times when we had "can dinners." My
mother would go to the grocery story, and purchase cans that had had the
labels ripped off them for pennies on the can, come home, and make
dinner. We went smelting in the spring, and had free fish. When I got
a little older, meat was more common, but was always stretched thin.

And yes, we got fat on that, too. Turns out the entire family has some
sort of insulin resistance issue - I have four older sibs, and all of
them are diabetic. I'm sure it's a matter of time, which is why I
low-carb now, as well as to lose weight.

Who I feel sorry for is my oldest brother, still steadfastly sticking to
the high-carb, low-fat regime, eating lots of oatmeal, low-fat bread,
rice, fat-free sauces and and little protein.

I wasn't poor growing up, but boy that sounds like some good eats to me
on any budget. :-)
