Default I did it!

I'd been holding steady at 110 for five or six weeks, so I figured that
that was where I was going to stay. Then this past week I was 109 all
week.

This morning I woke up to 108 -- half my starting weight of 216. (I had
been aiming for 108, but didn't think I'd reach it.)

Yay!

That's a good question. I've been trying to think of "big changes" but
mostly all I can think of are dozens of little changes. I guess one "big
change" is that I no longer eat anything -- not one bite -- without
thinking about it.

That one has lots of corrolaries:
- I think about the carb content and calorie content of everything I eat,
and ask myself how it will affect blood sugar level, fluid retention, and
weight.
- I no longer eat more than I need. Even if there are just a couple of
bites left of something -- not enough to make another meal out of, or even
a decent snack -- if I'm done, into the fridge it goes. I used to eat
stuff just to "clean up" -- not any more.
- I don't eat anything I don't like. If I'm going to live on so few
calories every day (about 1200), I don't want to waste any of them on
anything that tastes bad.
- I don't consider any foods "forbidden". If I really want something that
isn't good for me, I'll have it, but just a small amount. Lately I just
haven't been wanting anything like that, luckily.
- No more mindless snacking. Used to be we'd open a bag of some snack
food, and keep reaching in without thinking until suddenly the bag was
empty. Now we take a reasonable serving from the package and put it in a
bowl or plate; we eat what's in the bowl or plate and that's it.

And How long has it taken you in total ?

Two years and one month.

Sure you can :-)
