Looking good man. I didn't realize that your starting BF%
was at 30% when you started; good job on getting it down.

Yes, that's ok, point out that I was rather on the fat side when I started.

I gather by the emoticon that you are joking but,
nonetheless, please accept that my intent wasn't to single
this out for negative attention. My complement was sincere;
good job.

I appreciate your sincere compliment.

Anyway, just so you know, it was worth the hardship and deprivation of a
year's toil and trouble. I don't know if it will help you at all to keep
your goals in sight, but to me it was worth it.

Complement...compliment. Man, I can't even beg this one off
as a typo or even a spelling error, I just flat out used the
wrong word. Compliment is what was intended.

I'm glad to hear that you feel that the year has been worth
the effort.

There are many things that have made my personal efforts
worthwhile, quite a few of which I have written about here,
others I have not. A couple recent things (that you might
not appreciate but I did because they were so unexpected)
was having my wife walk by and say "You know, you're pretty
hot." Having her introduce me as her "new husband" has made
it worthwhile. Both of these from a woman who, in all the
years that I have known her and not until recently, has
never displayed a bit of vanity, floored me. I found out
that she has periodically shown my before and after
pictures. The before pictures were not from last August
when I was my heaviest, the before pictures were from early
in our marriage more than 20 years ago. I cannot tell you
how good it feels to have someone I respect tell me that I
look better now than I did 20 years ago.

That she has been equally successful (now within just a
couple pounds of her weight when we were married) has made
it worthwhile. (Uh, yes, she looks hot too...but I'm not
sure when I'm going to get an updated picture of her
though.)

Having had a personal history of failed weight loss
attempts--a history which many here unfortunately
share--made getting started again last September difficult.
Realizing after 90 days that this WOE truly was and is
radically different from anything I had tried before was a
revelation. Staying motivated now? Success begets
success, and success feels good. I cannot imagine ever
going back to the way I was. I can truthfully say that
motivation now is not a problem. However, I don't think I
will ever be able to say that it is not hard.

Thanks for sharing your photos. I had said that I would
post my updates when I hit 179 but I think that I will
weight to hit 175 before I update them again; probably in
about 3 weeks at the current rate.

Take care.

Just goes to show - you are, and always will be, an idiot. The Village

Yup, those pics look like they were taken circa 1979!
And the "obese" is an older man than the "fit" one is a younger one - see
the receding hairline in the "before" pic, and the old-fashioned eyeglasses
in the "after" pic. Heh.

It is odious to disparage that which you have not the will to achieve.

I don't expect you to understand the previous sentence.

I thought they looked like Burt Reynolds glasses myself.
