Yet another reason to exercise, even if it doesn't magically lower
your weight:
"At the Cooper Institute, two separate studies -- one following 9,925
women and another tracking 25,000 men -- found that fitness level is a
much stronger indicator against early death than weight. Being thin
offers no protection, in and of itself. "

I'm interested to see this Brad. While I still maintain strongly that
exercise makes very little difference to my ability to lose weight,
I've never been in the slightest doubt about all its other benefits.

I realize that it's not this way for most people, but ... Duh. My mother's
been telling me that all my life. Her mantra was *Just because you're thin
doesn't mean you're healthy*

Janice,

For me exercise helps my willpower. I'm not likely to blow one hour
at the gym by having that doughnut! Also, exercise should help your
weight loss be fat, not muscle. Moreover, the database of long-term
weight losers shows the majority include regular exercise. I believe
that a total couch potatoe should lose weight by adding exercise, but
a moderately active person may not get the same benefits, unless
he/she wants to train for a marathon. Final point - exercise allows
you to eat more food and still maintain/lose weight.
