I think that is what I am going to have to do - toss it. As flexible as
my WOE really is in the big scheme of things Cheese is just something
I'm going to have to reserve for very special occasions. I know I will
miss it FAR more than I have ever missed potatoes or candy/sweets. :/

This is really going to limit my dairy because I don't drink alot of
milk, I am allergic to yogurt and Ice-cream is just outta the question
lol. I wonder if I should take a calcium supp if I can manage to quit
the cheese. Maybe like a Tums per day or something.

If you have any doubt about getting the needed calcium don't hesitate to
take a supplement. It's very important not to lose bone density.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. This makes far more sense!

I love cheese too, but I save it for the occasional treat now. I do
eat a lot of the fat-free stuff -- not the same as real cheese but
better than nothing.

I handle real cheese like I do most other "treat" foods. I don't
bring it into the house, so I just eat it occasionally at restaurants
or social events (like wine tastings).

That's a good observation but inaccurate in my case. When I say "good

Which I don't eat any of.

myself my body and me rather have the carbs from the cheese and the fruit over
the empty carbs of bread and grains.

Can you do the f/f cheese, or do you not like it? How about f/f or
lowfat cottage cheese -- both good sources of calcium and protein
without a lot of calories? You can eat fruit with the cottage cheese
or try flavoring it with sugar-free syrups or adding Equal and
cinnamon -- various ways to enhance it.

If you don't end up getting much dairy, then I would recommend a
calcium supplement. Apart from it being nutritionally important, it
is supposed to help with weight loss.

Monte,

I think that SBD = South Beach Diet

BTW, I agree with you on the whole grains/higher fiber alternates that
you mention below. I even got DH off Eggos :-)

I don't know what SBD is. But why don't you switch from:

White bread to whole wheat bread.
White rice to brown rice.
White pasta to whole wheat pasta.

How come you did not stop regaining? I am not trying to admonish you,
I just lost a bunch of weight and want to not regain it. So I am
looking for tips, "what went wrong" type of stuff, to avoid pitfalls.

Any weight I regained along my journey was due to laziness. I got sloppy
about journaling and counting either points or calories, and the weight
started to creep up. I didn't pay attention until I was 15 lbs over my
goal weight and my pants were screaming for more material...

The ff cheese I just couldn't get past my mouth, the texture I think was
the big turn off for me lol
I can honestly tell you I've never eaten a bite of cottage cheese, I
will buy some at the grocery next time and try it. Good idea.

Ya'll can laugh your heads off, but I just signed up for SBD...yes I

did...okay
quit it now!! Be nice...According to them I am well within my range for

height
and age...however, I am going to attempt to lose 15 to 20lbs.

I have to get my carbs under control...I want to try this out for a bit

and see
what happens and then if I am still getting the low blood sugar feeling

then I
am going to go and get tested for Diabetes. My problem is the usual white
bread, rice, and pasta but I am hoping that if I curb these carbs it will

help.

I don't know how closely I will follow the SBD, but I am going to use it

as a
guide and a recipe source. So we shall see.

I'll report my process as I go through it.
Love, laughter and friendship

My friend at work has lost over 15 lbs in a month on SBD. She was a pasta
and bread freak prior to the diet and claims she no longer even craves them.
I bought the book for DH (he's looking for a sensible plan he can stick
with) and for my maintenance. I won't be reading it for a while though so
keep me posted on what you think.

If you don't hate the first try, try different brands. They vary quite
a bit in saltiness, sourness, and wetness (some are downright soupy).
Of the brands available where I am, I prefer Breakstone - not too wet,
and not salty so it goes well with the fruit I put in it.

Let us know what you think of it. I heard somewhere that the book has
good recipes, what do you think? I'm always looking for good recipes! :-)
