Phentermine & Supplements Question

Hello, I recently went to a weight loss clinic and was prescribed
Phentermine as well as given Chromium Picolinate and Thyroid T-3.
Is it safe to be taking all three of these together? Does it increase
side effects or should they not be taken at the same time?

Phentermine works like an amphetamine (analogue, it's not really an
amphetamine), though it is thought as less problematic because it has no
stimulant effect. It mainly works by reducing appetite. It is not thought to
have such a large effect on obesity, the result you can expect from it is to
maintain a 10% weight loss as long as you take the medication. You shouldn't
use it if :
- you have high blood presure, or high lung blood presure
- you have had past addiction (there is a moderate risk of addiction to
phentermine)
- have hyperthyroidism

Have you been diagnosed with real hypothyroidism? That would be the only
reason to give you a prescription for a thyroid drug... Then, it can
*really* help with weight loss (by turning you into a normal human being as
far as your thyroid is concerned). If you have not been diagnosed, or worse,
if you have hyperthyroidism, it will also make you lose weight, but you will
have side effects. Weight loss will be from lean mass as well as from fat.
You might get heart problems (palpitations, more severe issues), side
effects (hot flush, sweating, nervousness). And the general side effects of
hyperthyroidism (like diabete).

Chromium Picolinate just is a chromium supplement. It's supposed to help
with weight loss. It's quite popular among the bodybuilders who like to take
lots of drugs. It's also supposed to help diabetics. But I don't think
anything positive has been ever proven. But it seems it doesn't hurt either.

Why so many drugs? Do you have such a severe weight problem that cannot be
controlled by diet? Do you need to lose weight very fast? The problem with
many obesity drugs is that the lost weight tends to come back as soon as you
stop them.

Forget it. If they didn't tell you to exercise and
eat right, then they aren't interested in your health.

If they did, then you don't need to waste your
money on this stuff.
