Thank you, Jim. I might add that this is only a paradox for the American
Medical Society, who jumped on the "fat free" faze back in the 70's, which only made Americans fatter. High fat does NOT make one fat, just high sugar and starch. There was never any evidence that high fat caused heart disease. It started in 1977 with the idiotic McGovern committee recommending that Americans eat less fat. The truth is, they had absolutely no data to support this. But it caught on with help from mass media. Americans became concerned with any fat in their diet, and began to cut out eggs and meat, and best of all, dairy. All these foods have natural substances that keep you from gaining weight, and suddenly the government was telling everyone not to eat them! From there it just snowballed. Every hair brained study group came out with a new recommendation to lower fat in the diet and increase grains. They built that stupid food pyramid,. It is actually the exact reverse of what people should eat. The federal government has been conducting a vast nutritional experiment, with the American people as guinea pigs, on a totally false pretense. Actually, it's the high animal fat consumtion that plays a significant
role in a healthy higher fat diet and low rates of Coronary Heart Disease. Sometimes the basic facts are the basic facts and you don't need to look any further than the basic facts. I have heard a lot of indirect information about the McGovern committee
in 1977. Do you have a link for a good informative site or two? I would be interested in how this whole "Low Fat" was deemed unhealthy.
