Default measurements

I never really did do a good job of measuring myself, but did do my waist &
hips when I started. Today I re-measured and was blown away. Not only have I
lost over 10" from my waist, my hips are now 1" smaller than my waist was.
Looking at my hips (which are still of a considerable size) and realizing that
my WAIST was even bigger than that was a real eye-opener. Especially since I'm
not apple-shaped at all. Every once in a while something will give me a 'jolt',
reminding me that I am capable of being that big, and could easily go back. And
that's a good thing. Because it makes me renew my determination to NEVER go
back, LOL! I'll probably have a fat picture on the refrigerator and a pair of
size 22 pants at the front of my closet forever!

Would you mind posting some sample menus and what exercise you do? You have
lost an amazing amount of weigh in one year!

I started at about the same weight as you but have only lost around 50 in a
year's time. I exercise A LOT but have admittedly had too many cheats this
summer! But hubby and I are both totally back on track now.

Thanks in advance!

Exercise is usually 45 minutes of the elliptical crosstrainer (highish
resistance, high ramp angle, hits the glutes) and/or fast walking on a
treadmill at it's highest incline. (usually the treadmill while I'm waiting for
an elliptical, my rec center only has two, LOL!) Then weights for another 20
minutes or so. I try to push myself there, I personally don't believe in lots
of reps with light weights, YMMV.

Food would be hard to post a menu for. Low carb or not, I don't do well with
breakfast. NO matter how many times people tell me it's important, I know my
own body. And breakfast makes me feel like crap. I'll have an Atkins or EAS
shake around 10-11am at work, or maybe a handful or two of macadamia nuts. It
doesn't take much to hold me over until after work. (3pm, I don't get a lunch
break) Then I come home and eat a small meal. A salad or a couple of hot dogs
or a mock danish, whatever. Dinner a few hours later. Some kind of meat and
veggies. Tonight was fajhita (sp?) without a tortilla (aka a strips of seasoned
beef with grilled veggies and cheese piled on top and eaten with a fork) Of
course, loads of butter, sauce, dressing, or whatever goes with it. Water,
water and more water. No caffeine or aspartame as recommended by the good Dr.
Atkins. Maybe a Diet Rite or two a week. Sometimes a (large, LOL!) spoonful of
low-carb ice cream, I try not to ever have a whole bowl. Food actually kind of
bores me most of the time now. Hubby and I have only 'cheated' a couple of
times. And then there was the day I spent in San Francisco, eating sourdough
bread and salt water taffy. Followed by nachos, popcorn and beer at a 49er
game. (not to mention a bottle of wine and god knows what else after in the
parking lot) It was disgraceful! But fun. Even if it did take me 4 days to get
the weight back off, LOL!

Hey, keep it up, fifty pounds is GREAT! When I really need a boost, I imagine
what I would be like if I not only hadn't lost the weight, but instead GAINED
maybe 20lbs over the past 10 months. shudder I could easily be there too.
It's certainly where I was headed.

Congratulations! I want to join you in celebration. My weight loss has
been slow and sometimes a bit stormy, but today I weighed in at 192 pounds.
25 pounds down from when I started Atkins in April.

Another 15 pounds, and I will be happy. It really changes life, doesn't it?

Congratulations again!

With a 25lb loss you should already be happy! In my house, every pound is cause
for a celebration, LOL! (and after I lose the next four there will be some
SERIOUS happy dancing going on!) But yeah, it does change life. Today was the
first girl scout meeting of the year for my daughter's troop. I was called
"skinny" by three different people who haven't seen me since May. Afterwards a
guy at the grocery store actually hit on me. Now I know I'm not skinny, and I'm
not looking to replace my husband. But it's still a lot more fun than being
fat. Even if it is starting to feel like the twilight zone. LOL!
