No change for the second week in August, which is actually a triumph.
I went on vacation with my family at a resort in Michigan, and while I
ate more than I usually do, I managed to stick to my low-carb WOE.
There was much more temptation in my path than usual, with good bread
and blueberry tarts and all sorts of high-carb food served at meals.
It helped that it was blueberry season in Michigan and blueberries are
fairly low-carb. Fresh blueberries and cream for dessert was always
something to look forward to.

My one big indulgence was at Sherman's, which is a wonderful ice-cream
parlor that's always a high point of our trips to South Haven. They
had two flavors of low-carb ice cream, and each of the three times we
went there, I had their Moose Tracks ice cream -- vanilla with caramel
and peanut-butter cup. It was wonderful, though it had to be laden
with sugar alcohols, and I paid the price later. It was worth it for
a once-in-a-great-while treat, and I'm glad to say I haven't been
having any more cravings for it now that I'm back home.

A few days after I got home, I realized that my size 20 jeans were not
just kind of large, they were really large. So I hauled out the size
16 jeans that had been rather tight a month ago. They were tight no
longer! They fit with a bit of room to spare. So even if I didn't
lose weight this week, it was a good week for inches.

Where did you stay in Michigan? I know where Shermans in South Haven in.
Moose Tracks is so good. I read that and now I want some. Michigan
blueberries are usually pretty big and sweet.

I stayed at Sleepy Hollow. It used to be a holiday resort, and now
it's all condominiums, but a lot of the owners rent out their units to
vacationers.

I was there with my brothers and their family, my parents and my
mother's sister, and my grandmother -- thirteen of us in three units.
It was a lot of fun, though the weather never really got hot. I went
swimming in the lake several days nevertheless.

What town was that in? I haven't heard of that one. There is a resort
named Pennelwood in the town I graduated from - very popular in the summer
months - about a 15-20 minute drive to Lake Michigan and all the dunes.

It's in South Haven. It's right near a trailer place called Cousins,
if that helps. It's about a five-minute drive from downtown South
Haven, off the Blue Star Highway.

I know where that is - my grandma lives in Watervliet. My mom was born in
South Haven.
