I've got to believe that steps obtained by running up mountains count
for more than steps obtained strolling through malls!

Dally

I think you should be able to double those steps from running!

Thank you, Beverly, I do too. :-) So I pick that they count towards
today's miles! I'm all dressed for going to work out but I have zero
interest in going. Nada. I want to go lie down on the couch instead!

I've been having over-training symptoms for a week or so. I tried to
take a rest day on Wednesday (and ended up running downtown, going to
the mall and roller-blading with the boys... but no "exercise".) Today,
well, my body says "sleep". I haven't even put my pedometer on yet.

I've never suffered those symptoms and doubt I ever willg I do know that
after a day of long miles on the bike I certainly don't feel like exercising
and listen to my body. Take another day of rest and this time really rest!
Walking around the mall and roller-blading doesn't exactly sound like a
total rest day.

Beverly - who will be getting her exercise with a couple bike rides and
walking around a festival this weekend.

Goal 10,000
Actual 12,500
Still haven't found decent shoes
Pretty bad day, walking was a bit spoiled by being ****ed off at my father,
so I didn't walk as much as I thought I would, though what I did walk helped
lower the stress level...

Hm, then, yesterday would be maybe 3,000 steps not running, plus
18,000 steps running. Doubling those results to 39,000 "steps".

Mine were up "Mountain Road". I don't think you've got any mountains in
your over-distance run, n'est ce pas?

Nevertheless, your point is a good one. You really ought to take a rest
day after running nine miles. Especially without adequate carbs. :-)

how about some easy walking, or some such, just to keep blood flowing?

I was planning on it, but then the rain started. Yawn. A rest day
sounds good right about now.

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but last year when I was doing a lot
of running and hill stuff I went and looked up the difference in calorie
burn for going uphill and found a good article on the Runner's World site
that explained how you don't get extra credit for going uphill because
normally you also then are going downhill and it evens out in the long run
(no pun intended). I was pretty bummed to read it, but it made sense. So,
unless you're starting at the bottom of the hill and stopping at the top,
you're SOL.
