Default HORMONES DARN IT !

AAAHHHH I'm due for my "Shot" (depo provera) and for the last week and half
(at least) I've had a MAJOR case of the munchies (and the crankiness too..
poor husband)... and I mean major, like I haven't had since I first joined
Weight Watchers.

As I was about to call the funny farm and tell them to come and pick me up,
I stumbled upon my paper with the due date on it..
AAAAAaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh now that's why !

Now that I know, today I will do two things, 1 get the darned shot, 2 plan
the rest of my week.

Sheeeesh.. ain't that funny that the hormones give you the munchies AND the
emotional roller coaster TOGETHER? that way you can get fat and REALLY Feel
Sh!tty about it...

Sorry guys, but the gals are gonne follow me on this one..

grrrr I'm 32, when is Menopause? Or rather when is it done and over with?
Will~

I won't even tell you the nightmare I went through with depo. My hormone
problems were something I learned that I had to overcome (medically, etc.)
in order to stay close to a normal weight.

I always recommend this book, Menopause, A Guide for Women and Those Who
Love Them by Winnifred B. Cutler aqnd Celso Ramon-Garcia M.D.
Unfortunately you are a decade or two too young for menopause though it
varies from woman to woman.

Actually I'm pretty happy with it. I get the munchies (and crankies) once
every 3 months.. so it's a far sight better than every month.. and I haven't
had any of the side effects I've heard about..

Been maintaining my weight too.. I do know some women had it hard with it
though..

I have PCOS and can put on 20 lbs in a week or about 40 lbs a month if I'm
not both on meds and watching what I eat. And I'm one of the rare birds
that *isn't* insulin resistant.

I don't even get that every three months. Or cramps, or anything else,
as long as I go in every 10 weeks instead of 12 or 13. My gyn and I
figured it seems to wear off a bit quicker in me, because of my mass, so
she's told them that anytime they (the receptionists) get a stick up
their nethers that depo users should only come in every 12 weeks, I'm to
refer them to her and she'll set them straight. I mean, that's an
average, if I know it, they should.

If I go more than 10 weeks I'll get cramps and spotting, but that's
about it. No munchies unless I'm actually over the 12 weeks, but by
then I'm cramping so bad I couldn't eat anyway (cramps were the reason I
got on depo in the first place). And then you have to pee in the stupid
cup again before they'll do another shot, and I *hate* that, so it's yet
another reason to make sure I get in there.

I didn't experience any unusual weight gain when I started it. I mean,
I was already overweight, but I didn't have a sudden gain or anything.
She has warned me to increase calcium intake, just in case, but
otherwise.. I go in every 10 weeks, I never have to deal with anything
more than a few light cramps and maybe a little spotting. I wuv my
shots. I can actually hold down a job now where I don't have to stay
home for three days a month curled up in agony in bed waiting to die.

Mind you, today I have a headache, but that's related to cars and money
and houses: I got my injection two weeks ago, I'm good there :P

I love my Mirena for many of the same reasons:

No 5 day floods and up to nine days of agony and nausea.
Therefore, no anaemia!
I'm regular and predictable for the first time since I was on fertility
treatment! (That was the only other time in my life I was regular - even
the pill didn't sort THAT out!)
No weight gain. In fact, this is one of the things that made the weight
loss possible!
No violent mood swings! I get a bit irritable, but this is nothing
compared to the hormone induced anger and despair I used to get...
And the advantage over shots: the little darling lasts a whole five
years! I never have to remember to take pills or schedule shots...
Also, if I was younger and contemplating more kids, removal means you
instantly revert to full fertility (well, for those who ARE fertile,
anyway!)
