Default Your Fav cereal?

Wow, thanks for the articles about trans fats. I read the webmd one. I
didn't really know what trans fats were. I didn't know how bad they were.
I'm really going to be looking at what I eat now!

yumm plain oatmeal with a few flavor dashes is my fave too and as a
bonus its proven to help lower cholesterol. One thing no one mentioned
- but if you are health conscience like I am (or try my best to be) -
is that many processed breakfast cereals contain transfats from
partialy hrdrogenated oils. (As I relunctantly put back the Honey
Bunches of Oats after reading its nutrition label!) From:
http://tinyurl.com/ngds2
"Breakfast food. Breakfast cereal and energy bars are quick-fix, highly
processed products that contain trans fats, even those that claim to be
"healthy." (for example):
Kellogg's Cracklin' Oat Bran Cereal has 1.5 grams trans fat per 3/4 cup
serving.
Post Selects Great Grains has 1 gram trans fat per 1/2 cup serving.
General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal has .5 grams per 3/4 cup
serving.
Quaker Chewy Low Fat Granola Bars Chocolate Chunk has .5 grams trans
fat. "
SO you really have to read those labels! All labeling is supposed to
state transfat content as of 01/06/06 but they scoot under the wire by
making their serving sizes smaller. So if you see 'partially
hrdrigenated oils' on the ingredients but not listed under the label,
be advised its still in their just under the amount they are allowed by
law to lie about.

Here's a few links to read up on to tell you why you should be
concerned with the abundance of transfats in your foods:

This morning here in the hotel breakfast bar I had a bowl of
cinnamon-flavored instant oatmeal and mixed in one of those little
packets of peanut butter (3/4 oz.). It was really tasty and filling.
