The more meals I make, the more hungry I am ...
About a year and a half ago I was at 260lbs of which I cut about 90lbs
in about a year, and last summer I was at 165-170lbs ... In that time I was eating 3-4 meals per day and was feeling pretty full, had a lot of energy, even for cardio ... During that time I ate approx. 1800-2000kcal/day, did 700-1000 kcal cardio 3 times per week, and was moving at a moderate pace of 1-2 lbs per week feeling full all the time. My diet was approx 40P:30C:30F (mostly flaxseed oil) consisting of slow carbs and lean protein sources with addition of flaxseed and fish oil. After summer I took some "smart" advice and started eating 6 meals spread at approximately same caloric intake (total 2k kcal) while only wanted maintaining ... Suddenly my appetite went to the roof. The more meals I ate the more hungry I was. I tried to keep to 6 meals (300-400 kcal) for about 2 months (but I had a really hard time doing it). At that time, I started having huge drops of energy during the day, during cardio I was almost colapsing ... At that time I stopped doing cardio for some time (2-3 months due to bad weather) and started going to gym. It wasn't any better ... I gained a few pounds of muscle, but the energy drops were still there. Now, I'm at 180 pounds with quite a bit of fat (most of this fat was still there before, it just came out after I gained some muscle under it). Btw, I'm a 5'11 18 year old. I'm still doing the 6 meal thing and still fighting with my appetite. For the last 2 months I'm doing gym and cardio with the same caloric intake, but the flab isn't comming off. I'm going to reduce my meals to 3-4 meals of cca 400 kcal with the same training regime and post a progress report in about a month. I'm also looking for some advice on the hunger management PS: I'm also taking quality multivitamin multimineral supplements every day and 5-10 g of creatine and whey after workout. PPS: I'm looking for cutting my weight to 165lbs again but this time with a bit more muscle and less body fat |

When giving advice it's a great idea to start with what works for most people. Now you know you aren't typical in this particular thing. So go back to the meal frequency you used to use. Cause and effect. The cause is eating the way you used to that triggered loss but not hunger. The effect, should be to continue loss and not be hungry. |

I spent the last year following this (and croatian) health news groups as well as some other sites/forums (t-nation ...) at least half an hour per day, so I'd say I'm pretty informed |

There's so much information and just when you think you have an idea of how to best diet to your advantage, some new information gets posted and you have to rethink/compare/judge and form conclusions and make decisions based on that experience. The learning process, plain and simple. And then it repeats all over again. All the best, Andy |
