Confused about calories needed
I would have to agree with one of the other posters in that this would be to
much "diet food" and artificial sweetner for me. Long term, I would be able to stick with this. That's why I'm trying to stay away from the diet foods and focus on changes to food which I already eat. I would just feel starved eating what he ate, yet I eat actually a few less calories per day than he does, but here is what I get to eat: half cup of oatmeal with half cup of blueberries sweetened with Splenda 200 cal 2 bowls of half farina, half grits sweetened with Splenda .......................250 cal Pudding made from sugar-free, fat-free instant mix using Hoods non- fat, I eat half a package at a time with 1 full cup of the Hoods.....................100 cal 8 meringues using Splenda and using sugar-free syrup on each bite...... 150 cal Two large bowls of salad..lettuce, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, (no dressing)......................................... ................................ 150 cal 4 slices of Lite bread (toast) with sugar-free jam on top.........................200 cal 2 CANS of green beans at 75 cal per entire can...................................150 cal another serving of oats, but without berries........................................... 150 cal Apple............................................. .................................................. .. 100 cal Lots of green tea and diet pop............................................... .................0 cal For a total of 1450 cal, 70 gm. protein, very low fat (9 gms), high fiber, but most important for me.....lots of food. dkw |

Play around with this calculator he http://ibw.dietitian.com/ibw.exe This link gives me an error! Try www.dietician.com, and click on Healthy Body Calculator in the upper left hand corner. jen Weird. Of course you know, there are other permanent ways of eating that also yield good weight loss that don't require splenda or other "diet" foods. I personally love splenda, because I do have a sweet tooth, but there is definitely more than one way to eat a reese's... oh, I mean to skin a cat. |

You could have done so much more with those calories than waste them on that. Maybe true, but PBJ is not a "waste." Peanut butter - and any nuts - are full of healthy fats and are slow to digest, so they stick with you longer. Whole wheat bread provides good fiber and nutrients. Together, they provide complete protein. IMO (and I was actually thinking about this very subject just yesterday!), a PB sandwich is the perfect meal! Quite true and I also have PB sandwhiches on occasion too, and quite often I'll add a couple tbls to my morning oatmeal. That said - if the guy is struggling because he's maxed out his calorie intake before his final meal of the day and 1/2 his intake is from 4 slices of toast with PB on them, then there is a key area for him to change or cut back. |

Long term, I would be able to stick with this. That's why I'm trying to stay away from the diet foods and focus on changes to food which I already eat. OK, so if you don't believe in dieting - why are you trying to eat the way you are eating. Webster's definintion of the word "Diet" 1 a : food and drink regularly provided or consumed b : habitual nourishment c : the kind and amount of food prescribed for a person or animal for a special reason d : a regimen of eating and drinking sparingly so as to reduce one's weight going on a diet If Diet is food/drink regularly consumed OR a regimen of eating/drinking sparingly so as to reduce one's weight. Counting calories is just one way of eating that will help you reduce your intake in an effort to lose weight. But permanent weight loss is actually adjusting one's diet (definition a, b or c) to the level at which you can maintain your weight once you reach your goal. Face it - if you eat too much you gain weight which is why you put weight on. If you try some funky eating plan to temporarily adjust your eating to eat less in an effort to lose weight then you are setting yourself up for failure. Instead you should make permanent adjustments to your eating habits overall, adjustments you are happy with and can live with forever. |

Confused about calories needed
I won't say tha these caloric values below are correct to two decimal
spaces, but they are ballpark numbers taken from a website as well as from the packaging. If you know something to the contrary, pls advise. "Mu" wrote in message ... Confused about calories needed
"shinypenny" wrote in message Most diet plans would drive me crazy, because they are *too* varied. I laugh at the thought of buying just two slices of turkey breast per week. If I am going to eat lunchmeat (which I don't - I hate lunchmeat Hey!!! Watch it!!! (I'm a deli manager but it's a good example) I'm going to buy enough for the whole week and eat it every day. You can't buy good quality (GOOD quality, not that pressed stuff) Turkey Breast "enough for a week", because it only maintains good taste about three days. Ditto Roast beef and the better hams. Bologna, salami, on the other hand.... XXXXXXgizzieXXXXXX ************************************************** ******************** "You want to concentrate on lean protein and healthy fats." Use the Daily Calorie Needs Calculator. Based on your age, sex and
activity level, it will calculate how many calories you burn per day and give you a good idea of how much to eat. Daily Calorie Needs Calculator - http://www.straighthealth.com/pages/ tools/caloriecalclb.html |
