Harvard study confirms it...

Caveats: only 12 weeks (I'm sure we'll hear whining about the long
term) and a small study: 21 people (but food was prepared by the
study, so closely monitored) and hasn't been peer reviewed yet.

But this is huge!

Conducted by Penny Greene of Harvard, whom I've actually met once.
That woman is so irritatingly, want-to-kick-her-in-the-head-so-goddamn
picky that I'm sure there's no hole in it.

In the article I read, they had some clown from the Univ of Penn
stating that it was hard to believe because it violates the laws of
thermodynamics.

What a joke! I bet she knows zippo about thermodynamics and must
think the human body works just like a bomb calorimeter, burning
everything completely and with the same efficiency. I think there is
a lot we don't know about how the body processes food and converts it
to energy.

"seems" to violate. (Which is a stretch but I understand what
she was saying).


What a joke! I bet she knows zippo about thermodynamics and must

everything completely and with the same efficiency. I think there is
a lot we don't know about how the body processes food and converts it
to energy.


Well, you don't even need that kinda phenomenon. The explanation
could be a simple as those on the higher calorie diet were more
active. Atkin's didn't make a big fuss about exercise, but I still
use it as a way to help control weight. The folks were getting an
extra 300/day. That's about a good hours brisk walk.

It was a small study, broken into 3 groups. And the difference
was a few pounds. The important part was that they didn't lose less.
