Default Calories from Fat, Carbs, Protein

Hi
Is there a formula which will allow you to calculate how many calories are
taken from Protein, Carbs & Fat, given that a product contains x grams of
each, and has y calories??

Or is it specific to each food type??

Thanks

1 g Protein = 4,1 kcal or 17,1 kJ
1 g Carbs = 4,1 kcal or 17,1 kJ
1 g Fat = 9,3 kcal or 38,9 kJ
1 g Alcohol = 7,1 kcal or 29,3 kJ

Thanks for the reply.

This would imply that the calories derived from all proteins is the same
(ie. Chicken or Whey is the same cals??)

Thanks

That's only an average. Different fats, proteins and carbs have
differing calories per gram. Some proteins and carbs are only
about 2 calories per gram.

FitDay will give you carb and calorie information but here's what I keep in
mind. When reading labels in the grocery store, this info comes in handy:

1 gram of carbohydrate = 4 calories
1 gram of fat = 9 calories
1 gram of protein = 4 calories

Many times, you'll find that the total calories on the label don't match up
with your computations. Most people I know just assume that the "extra"
calories are probably from carbs.
