Default Day 15 of 100 Days to Thanksgiving

Day 15 of 100 Days to Thanksgiving
253/243/195

Got on my scales about 20 minutes ago and found that another pound was
gone - so I've lost 10 pounds in 15 days. I know the weight loss
will slow, but it is fun watching the line on the weight graph go down.

Had a few more calories yesterday than I would have liked to have -
including about 600 calories of shrimp salad when we went out to
dinner. But I had diet coke, no bread, etc. Sure is a dramatic change
as compared to before when I would have grabbed for the bread, had
another beer, etc., etc. Now I have a few salivary responses in the
course of a day, but not many, and they are easily controlled.

Went up my little hill yesterday with my 25 pound backpack. I finished
my walk up in 29 minutes and 30 seconds from a stop sign at the bottom
of the hill and this is several minutes faster than I had done it while
timing it last week. Also, I had made the climb somewhat harder by
nose-breathing going up at first father than mouth-breathing. Then
later I alternated between the two but about half way up I started
mouth-breathing only. (There is some fascinating research by Washington
State researcher Lori Brilla on training the inhalation response and
I'm trying to emulate the effects of that. Also, by making my climb
up the hill more difficult in terms of cardiovascular effect, I am
hoping to tax the cardio system without overloading my joints, back,
etc.) In the future I'm going to emphasize nose-breathing as I carry
my pack.

Great news in this morning's paper - about coffee being the major
source of antioxidants in the American diet! And I really like coffee.
As that song says: "I like coffee - I like tea. I like the
java-java and it like me."

My calorie goal today is 800 calories, all of it with a soup at dinner.
(Soups are really filling for me.)

I hope everyone meets with their diet and exercise goals today and in
the weeks and months ahead!

Yours,
