Default Looking for a strict diet and exercise plan

Hello all --

I am trying to start off the year with a healthier lifestyle and I'm
looking for the right plan to get me going. I am not overweight, but
definitely out of shape and I need a good strict plan that I can
follow. I just got back from the book store and flipped through a lot
of books, and most of them are filled with the author's philosophy on
life, motivational tactics, etc., and only a hand full of pages that
talk about exactly what to eat and how much to exercise. All I really
want is a book that will give me lots of meal suggestions and a strict
exercise schedule.

Thanks for any suggestions,
-steve

First get a checkup from your doctor including a stress test.
If you are out of shape you need to know what you can tolerate.

Then forget about buying a book. What you've found is typical.
Do it yourself. Start out slow and work up.
Otherwise you will hurt yourself. The most extreme case I know
was a personal acquaintance who started a stringent biking program in
the
middle of a heat wave and died of a heart attack. Start by
walking around the block or around the concourse at your local
mall -- DON'T take your credit card.

Also start keeping track of what you eat. After a couple of
months you will notice patterns. The healthiest eating program
includes a wide variety of high fiber foods, prepared with
little fat, and enough animal products for nutrients missing
from plant foods. Once you know what you've been eating,
you'll know what you have to do to move to what you should
be eating. If you need help with this, get your doctor to
refer you to a registered dietitian or state-licensed nutritionist.

6. No alcohol!
7. Take a multi-vitamin supplement and 2 capsules of Omega-3.
8. Study the info at: http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html and
http://www.exrx.net/ so you understand what you're doing.

You are looking for a specific plan...

Here's a plan for you:

1. No sugar and no junk food. not much bread, pasta and potatoes
2. Limit your calories to a certain daily limit, say 10x your weight
in lbs
3. Eat anything within that plan and within those calorie limits
4. Walk 100 min daily
5. Strength train 30 minutes daily

What's your weight and height?

In addition to being informative, I also find Mistress Krista's site very

It's Members Mark brand I got from Sam's Club. It's a 1000 mg capsule and 2
capsules have 2000 mg "Natural Fish Oil Concentrate" of which 360 mg is EPA
and 240 mg is DHA. I keep it in the refrigerator but it says you can store
it at 59 to 86 degrees F. It says to take 2 caps 3 times a day but if I
take it that often I burb fishy taste.
