Omega-3
I feel like everywhere I turn people are telling me to eat Omega-3. I
know fish is high in Omega-3, but yuck! Can't deal fish. Are there any other foods that I wouldn't know about that contain omega-3, so I can add it to my diet? |

"Ignoramus4243" wrote in message ... I think that flaxseed itself is relatively low in carbs, also. It is. My package of flaxseeds lists the carb content as 11 grams but when you subtract the fiber content of 9 you get a net carb count of 2 carbs per serving. |

The Vegetarian Society's website has pretty good information on
non-fish Omega 3 sources: a href="http://www.vegsoc.org/info/omega3.html"http://www.vegsoc.org/info/omega3.html/a |

A supplement (I like greens+) might be your best bet. Note the
difference between animal and plant sources of 03: Although eating (sufficent) plant sources of Omega3 should (in theory) have the same benefits, I believe most (all) of the studies showing benefit are based on 03 extraction from fish. ---- What is the difference between plant- and animal-source omega-3s? At the core of both plant- and animal-source omega-3s is a cluster of molecules called LNA. This alpha-linolenic acid is a long-chain fatty acid that comes mainly from plant foods like walnuts, flaxseed, and green leafy vegetables. When your body absorbs fats containing LNA, enzymes convert some of it into longer, more highly polyunsaturated omega-3s called EPA and DHA. These desirable omega-3s are more beneficial to your health, but your body needs about ten LNAs to make one EPA. Fish, on the other hand, contains little LNA, but is rich in EPA and DHA. Eating fish simply means that your body doesn’t have to work so hard converting fatty acids. Fish is your most accessible and concentrated source of EicosaPentaeonic Acid and DocosaHexaeonic Acid. http://www.deliciousorganics.com/Con...ies/omega3.htm --- Dr. Mercola's Comment: Always remember omega-3 fats are essential to your, and your children's, health. The best source for omega-3 is fish oil and cod liver oil, as, unlike other sources such as walnuts or flax seeds, it is high in two fatty acids crucial to human health, DHA and EPA. These two fatty acids are pivotal in preventing heart disease, cancer, and many other diseases. The human brain is also highly dependent on DHA - low DHA levels have been linked to depression, schizophrenia, memory loss, and a higher risk of developing Alzheimer's. http://www.mercola.com/2002/apr/3/evolution.htm On Tue, 27 Sep 2005 17:59:08 GMT, Rich wrote: I feel like everywhere I turn people are telling me to eat Omega-3.
