How to Boil eggs (tip)
We have chickens , so fresher eggs = harder to peel. I've found a trick to
it. Add cooking oil and salt to the water with the eggs. They almost jump out of the shell. To anyone who has ended up with half an egg after peeling this is for you . |

That's interesting. Never heard that one. The oil must permeate the pores of
the shell. Thanks! -- - Bear Grrrrrrrr : o) 297/273/210 http://home.earthlink.net/~polarbear50/index.html "Hunter" wrote in message . com... We have chickens , so fresher eggs = harder to peel. To anyone who has ended up with half an egg after peeling this is for you . Thanks for the tip. I'll have to try it. Much easier than my newest method. I found Julia Child's instructions last week for the perfect hard boiled egg and it has a lot of steps to it: boil 17 minutes, plunge into ice water for 2 minutes, boil again for 10 seconds, back into the ice water for 15-20 minutes. I have to admit they were perfect, peeled easily, and the yellow didn't turn green but it's a bit much just for hard boiled eggs. |

Here's a much simpler method that also eliminates the green yolk and turns out perfectly every time. Place eggs in pan, then add enough cold water to cover eggs. Bring to a boil, cover and remove from heat. Wait 16 minutes, plunge into cold water. Perfect hard-boiled eggs every time. Hi, Donna. I have tried that, but they were still difficult to peel. The boil-ice-boil-ice method really puts a space between the egg and the peel so that it pops right off. I am going to try the oil and see how it works. |

How to Boil eggs (tip)
Older eggs are easier to peel. I didn't know why till I incubated some eggs
for a 4h project.(I had more fun than the kids did). As the egg gets older the air sack increases in size and pulls away from the shell. So use your old eggs first. The green yolk means the protein has been destroyed- -- Diane Atkins since 12/4/2003 234/211/150 5"8 "Jean M." wrote in message ...
