JC Der Koenig burbled across the ether:
JIHAD!!

Heh.

For the OP: The issue under discussion is not a lowcarb issue. Period.
Which is what Roger was aiming at. Take it to alt.politics.gossip

Jeesh.

The only time it's not a matter of choices is in cases of rape. If the
birth control fails, well, the woman did _choose_ to have sex, right? If
you choose to have sex, you have the responsibility of researching methods
of birth control and which ones are most effective, and the responsibility
of asking yourself some serious questions like "What if I get pregnant
anyway? Is having sex with this guy worth that risk?" I decided a long,
long time ago, years before I started having sex, that I would never have
sex without birth control, and that if the birth control failed, I would
never have an abortion (unless it was a case where carrying the baby would
kill me). If, fate forbid, I am ever faced with an unwanted pregnancy, I
would choose adoption. There are so many loving, kind, stable yet
childless couples out there who _can't_ have kids, it seems such a waste to
abort one. And, I do see it as killing. I don't know when "life"
technically begins, so for me, I would err on the side of caution. But,
politically, I am pro-choice, mainly because I think with all the
biological pressure to breed, all the hormones racing through your body
when you're pregnant, all the moral and emotional objections to abortion
(which many women still have even when they have an abortion, it is rarely
an event with no regrets and no sadness) with all of that going on, if a
woman _really_ wants an abortion, she's going to get one, law or no law, so
I would rather it be in a hospital with doctors than in someone's basement.

IMO, if the Pro-Life crowd would concentrate on sex education and making
birth control methods easier to obtain and more effective, they would
serve their purpose a lot better than protesting abortion clinics.

About 10 years ago, there was an oft-forwarded anti-abortion poem,
allegedly written from the viewpoint of a fetus, that went around the
net. Now I don't usually read poetry, much less write it, but at the
time I decided to respond in kind with the following:

Red Herring

I hear you shouting don't abort
A child I cannot support.
I hear no pledge to clothe and feed
the babe, if I your warning heed.
Your goal to bar the clinic's door,
Not changing what we need it for.
What right have you to judge the poor?

Conception is the real issue,
Not removing fetal tissue.
If birth control was uncontested,
Also free and better tested,
If Sex Ed wasn't so protested,
(If women weren't being molested,)
Abortion conflict would be rested.

Um, ok. But, um, correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't it possible to
give an unwanted child up for adoption, with all medical expenses covered
by the adopters?

tinkered with, it is VERY IMPORTANT and i am grateful to nimue for
posting the info.

No, but reproductive choice is an issue that affects all women,
personally and politically. No matter which side of the issue they're
on, there are quite a few posters here who belong to Curves or are
considering joining. It's valuable information to have, so one can
make an informed decision as to where to spend one's money.

It's ironic that they make their money from women. Sorta like finding
out a major hip-hop label is donating to the KKK, or a lox producer is
donating to Nazis...

I believe it's wrong too. And I'm pro-choice.

I don't see any contradiction between those positions.
