Placid

I have to say again that I am SHOCKED by the response to this post. I
mean,
absolutely shocked! I thought people might want to know what kind of an
organization they are supporting. I don't see this as trouble-making -- I
actually thought I was being active and helpful. Don't people want to

know
where there hard-earned dollars are going? True, some people might think
this is good news, but whatever type of news it is -- it's news. It's
something we, as possible consumers of Curves, should know. I am AMAZED

at
the anger this has generated. I had no idea people would respond by
plonking me or getting angry. I thought people had a right to know -- I
guess some people just don't want to know, and killfile the messenger, so

to
speak.

You're shocked? It seems to be SOP around here, to killfile the messenger if
they don't like the message. Serious consideration of the points in question
is not the issue. Support means the truth doesn't matter to most of the
posters in this newsgroup.

I'll bet you're glad your mom didn't have an abortion.

I think I'd join Curves even if I didn't plan on using my memership if I
knew it was "prolife."

P.S. But you're certainly entitled to boycott it, just like I'm entitled
to boycott PP. Just not sure why it is so "awful" that they are
anti-abortion...about half of America is.

My guess is, this forum would be split about half/half on the issue, and
the results would differ mostly
probably depending on how the person worded the question...

You should always quote whomever triggered your reply, at a minimum.

Dear Nimue,

This nature of this kind of post alienates and divides. Your intent
may be to be helpful. If the reader disagrees, it is viewed as
offensive. Please try to see it from another point of view.

I love this newsgroup because the posters generally try to be helpful,
supportive, and on-topic most of the time. There are posters here who
have views diametrically opposed to my own, politically,
religiously.....I appreciate their on-topic contributions AND I
actually like them, or their online pesona, at any rate. I don't know
if they would feel the same about me if I were to post my
political/religious views, and since this is a diet support newsgroup,
I try not to do that.

True.. but considering several here do use Curves for workouts, (and that
particular topic can be VERY volatile in nature given the extremes from one
side to the other in beliefs,) I was glad to see it. I had considered
Curves, as there is one not a mile from here.. I will not even bother at
this point given that information. However it should have been labeled at
least slightly off topic and should not have been posted from a group given
to hearsay.. I think the link to the article should have been enough,
leaving out the mention of the gossip group. That in itself is enough to
turn most people off from what could be good information.

Dear Teeb,

I hear what you are saying.

Nimue had indicated she was shocked, extremely shocked. It was my
hope that after reading my post, she might better understand why the
original post elicited the response that shocked her.

Thanks,
PoohBear

I think you did well to show this information, thank you [shaking your
hand]. If I were to choose and had curves in mind, it would certainly be
removed from my list, as I see the anti-choice groups as softcore
terrorism. The last thing we need in this world is millions of unwanted
kids by unfit parents. There are enough of those as it is.
