Well, I had that for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't need no
stinkin donut! I'm sure some of them went into making some of the fat that
still hanging around....I'm fortunate that I'm no longer slave to the call
of the lit "hot" sign. Also, I'm even more fortunate that I don't have to
go anywhere near a KK in my day-to-day travels.

I am allergic to wheat. It triggers binges, gives me coughing fits
and a number of other symptoms. But on occasion I get weak and
succumb to the addictive stuff and eat some.

I heard folks rave about Krispy Kreme donuts. I decided that I
would go ahead and try some. I would have the experience, get
through the bad effects, detox, use a few days at 20 to get back
into low carbing. It was a spur of the moment self-damaging act
not something I planned.

When I bit into the donuts I didn't get it. Sweet enough, but
the greasy had very little flavor. The donuts had very little
texture.

Then something wierd happened. I didn't binge. I didn't get a
coughing fit. It was no worse than other occasional cheats. It
only took a day at 20 to get over it. The temptation to have
more evaporated out of me with a poof. It's been a few years
since then and now I can walk past them and chuckle.

If a donut fails to make wheat-allergic me sick, there is something
severely wrong with that donut!

I heard once -- I can't confirm it -- that KK donuts were made with
potato flour. Maybe that's why you didn't get sick.

I've never had a Krispy Kreme donut and don't plan to. I suppose the fact
that
donuts were never a big temptation for me helps :-) Don't get me wrong -- if

they were around at work, I would eat them, but they never really "called" to
me.

You're not missing much (IMHO). They just taste like... donuts I guess.

Take this morning, here in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Traffic is backed up and becoming a problem. One lane is blocked completely,
causing commuters to have to make the transition over to the next lane and
creating one hell of a slowdown.

Why?

There's a new Krispy Kreme that opened on South Shackleford.

Mmmmmmmm. Krispy Kreme. Now there's a red light food for
me, if anything.

me neither. i've never liked that kind of donut anyhow, so to me it's
not a big deal. i did used to like cake donuts (with sprinkles, even)
but i don't even miss those. they're just completely off my radar these
days.

Donuts are one of the few sweet things I miss. Another is
SO's homemade noodles, homemade pizza dough, and homemade bread.

Thank goodness. Did anyone really watch that?

It's almost a religion. Or at least a food group in itself.

Go to
http://www.krispykreme.com
Click on 'Nutritional Info'
You get a pdf with a list of ingredients and nutrition info for each of
their donuts.

They all have enriched bleached wheat flour as the #1 ingredient.
Carbs range from 30s to 40s in each donut.

That could be true. I must confess, I've never been to the Krispy Kreme
store; I've only tried them when someone else opened a box at me and said,
"You've gotta have one." (People holding Krispy Kreme boxes have a peculiar
urge to share, like some kind of sticky-fingered drug pusher.)

That's how I had the misfortune of eating my first KK (pre return to
low carb). Later on, I was dragged to ours when they had the infernal
red light on. No matter how hot, or cold, I just don't like KKs.
Now, I'll grant that they are the smoothest donuts I've ever had, but
that sugar coating! (Gag. Shudder.) If I want a pure sugar
experience, I'll open up a bag of the stuff. (Yuck, ick, poo-eey!)
