For those who want alcohol but worry about the calories, here's a way to
have your alcohol without the calories.

It is not uncommon for an American working adult to indulge
in an alcoholic beverage after a long day on the job. What is
uncommon, however, is for that individual to snort the
intoxicating liquid into his or her nose. Though it may sound
strange, painful and downright crazy, it is quickly becoming
the latest faze in obtaining a euphoric state of mind.

Citizens in Europe have begun consuming drinks such as vodka
and absinthe with the aid of a new device known as an Alcohol
Without Liquid (AWOL) vaporizer. The alcohol vapor is created
by pouring a spirit into a diffuser capsule connected to an
oxygen pipe. The oxygen bubbles are then passed through the
capsule, absorbing the alcohol, before being inhaled through
a tube.

The inventor of the AWOL vaporizer, Dominic Simler, claims this
method of consuming alcohol reduces the effects of a hangover
and is calorie-free. In addition, the effects of the alcohol
can be felt much quicker as it is directly absorbed through
blood vessels in the nose or lungs, bypassing the stomach and
liver.

However, though it may sound like a healthier alternative to
the normal way of ingesting alcohol, medical experts are
concerned with potential danger that could cause brain damage.
The direct exposure of alcohol to the brain could cause
irreversible damage to nerves, lead to swelling and possibly
lead to dementia.

Despite medical concerns, AWOL vaporizers are becoming a hit
among European citizens. Do you think it's only a matter of
time before Americans begin 'snorting' their martinis?

when I was a student back in 1985 we studied about using nebulized vodka to
treat pulmonary edema. I think you are trying to describe "nebulizing" the
alcohol but wouldn't absinthe be too thick to nebulize well? I've never seen
absinthe so I am just assuming that it is thick. hmmmm I do have that
nebulizer and pari neb cup in the closet, bummer, no etoh but Tequila.

Well, I just tried pouring scotch up my nose and it turned out to be a very
disappointing experience. I shan't take your advice again, I can assure
you.

Did you read it all. You have to have a special device.

This is probably the thing that Dubya started using in the National Guard
and that got him in so much trouble.

This post reminds me of a story about a drunk driver, obviously intoxicated,
but there was absolutely no odor of alcohol on his breath.
He had used a Bacardi 151 enema.

Absinthe is thin. Smells funny, though.

Tequila, huh.

That beer shampoo they used to sell would always get me stoned out of my mind.
