Default Poll: Are fiber diets worth doing?

Hi everybody,

I'm having a discussion with my editor about whether or not high fiber
diets are interesting to people. I told her that I thought that people
who can't loose weight due to their genetic makeup would benefit from
a specific high fiber diet that would allow them to eat more, not gain
any additional weight, and not feel guilty becuase they knew that they
were doing everything they could to stay healthy. She says that I'm
wrong to think that is a worthy goal for people. I thought it would be
better to ask people to find out what the truth really is. So I'd like
to ask everybody what they think of this high fiber diet - is it a
worthy thing to do?

Your help is most appriciated

Thanks,
Sean Kelly

First off, I hope you have an editor because your spelling sucks. Secondly,
99.99% of the overweight population is overweight because they 1. EAT TOO
MUCH and 2. EXERCISE TOO LITTLE. It has NOTHING to do with "genetic
makeup". This is a comfy excuse for being a lardass and not doing anything
about it.

Fiber is not going to make you lose weight. Eating low carb, low fat, etc,
is not going to make you lose weight. Eating less calories than you burn is
how you lose weight. Fiber helps you feel full on less calories, but fiber
is what is in fruits and veggies, and whole grains. This is not a new diet.
It just has a different name. Bottom line - eat healthy, unprocessed foods,
plenty of fruits and veggies and whole grains. It's high in nutrients and
high in fiber. You'll still have to eat less than you burn though, and
exercise is still essential.
