Default V8 on induction

Hi all;
I'm back to induction after falling off the wagon - HARD... I have a
questions though. I am a very picky eater and not too crazy about most of
the veggies allowed during induction. My question is: Is V8 vegetable
cocktail ok during induction. I plan on sticking to 20g until my goad
weight. Thanks in advance

Is V8 vegetable cocktail ok during induction?

V8 has 8g net carbs per 8oz serving, and only 2g fiber and 2g protein.
And it's not on the list of approved foods. So no, it's not OK for
induction. Equivalent carbs from lettuce, for example, means 1.5
pounds of lettuce - and 14g fiber and 8g protein.

But if you must, you must, right? Consider an alternate source of
fiber (nuts, supplements) if you skimp on the veggies.

I plan on sticking to 20g until my goal weight.

If you're doing Atkins, this is not the right thing to do. Find your
CCLL first, *then* decide where to set your carbs. Staying too low
might mess up your metabolism, whereas a slightly higher carb level
wouldn't.

On The South Beach Diet you do drink V-8 Juice.

Does SBD have "Induction"? If so, that could get confusing.

Which can are you talking about? The small size 4(?) oz or the 12 oz?

Only the foods from the allowed list are allowed during induction. So,
check out your book.

A can of V8 juice contains 14 net carbs, 7 of which are sugars. Hardly an
induction friendly food.

As for being a picky eater, it all boils down to priorities,
ultimately.

It really depends what you are doing. I am on Southbeach and you are allowed
V8 on Southbeach.

No but it has three phases.

Phase I is equivelant to Atkin's induction. The first two weeks or more to
detoxify your system of carbs and sugar.

I kinda knew that, but the original question was about Induction, not
SBD.

Perhaps SBD's pahase 1 is comparable, but it's not equivalent.

Protein Power also has a "phase 1" which is very low carb (30 grams per
day). But it's not really the same thing as induction either; similar
purpose, but not the same.

As you accelerate your food, it takes exponentially more and more energy
to increase its velocity, until you hit a limit at C. This energy has
to come from somewhere; in this case, from the food's nutritional value.
Thus, the faster the food is, the worse it gets.

Why is it not equivalent? Is it ok if its not the same?

I prefer South Beach precisely because I have too many things going on in my
day to be counting grams of anything. I've found it very successful.
