Default Today's breakfast.

One Morningstar Farms pizza/basil veggie burger with a teaspoon of
miracle whip Free, garlic powder and pepper and a slice of non-fat
american cheese on a slice of whole grain whole wheat bread, with two
fist fulls of "bagged" salad without dressing and a TJ's cup of
applesauce and 2 cups of 0% fat milk and a multivitamin, 6 fiber capsules
and my B/P pill.

Oh joy. *sigh*

Do you have the numbers on that breakfast? At first glance it looks
like too much food. I'd probably put the applesauce back and eat it two
hours later as a snack instead. That's just me ...

That's a pretty big calorie hit for one meal. How many meals/snacks are
you eating?

!!!

That's a huge amount of sodium - almost half of what's recommended for
daily intake (2400 mg).

cheese,

I usually have similar size meals. I'm pretty close to my 1500 sodium
max. already and the same with the sugar from the milk and applesauce.

I don't snack. Just water between meals.

I don't have applesauce everyday. Everywhere else, I'm way under my daily
figures for a 2100 calorie diet.

Both the morning star burger and kraft fat free cheese slice had 280mg
sodium and the fat fee milk had 260mg. So I could skip the cheese and
just 1 cup of milk to cut out 540mg of sodium.

I can do that! Most days I still fall short of my 2100 calorie daily
intake! Gotta find some higher calorie foods that are low
fat/chol./sodium, maybe as protien, not carb? I can't decide. I'll look
at the nuts and veggies and fish (cod filets probably)?

Thanks for making me go over the numbers!

In the past I've eaten oatmeal w/protein powder, a whole wheat English
muffin w/natural peanut butter or yogurt w/high fiber complex carbs and
protein powder mixed in. They were always followed with a banana 1-2
hours later.

Can't say I ever chose a cheeseburger for breakfast but to each his own.

How about beans? They can get pretty calorie dense and if you get the dried
ones and cook them yourself you can eliminate the salt.

I could do that! I saw a recipe for blackbean burgers on a vegan site. I
have had a long-lasting/twisted philosophy that "if I can put it between
a hamburger bun, it's fun food." Rediculous, I know. Now if it fits
between slices of whole grain bread... well... not as much fun.

I made a great pot of green split-pea soup over the weekend and didn't
include any fat or salt and it still tasted delicious and FILLING!!!
