Default Why am I hungry??

I've been on Atkin's Induction for a week now and this is the first
day that I've felt very hungry AFTER I eat. Is this part of the carb
withdrawl?

Thanks

Hi Corinna..
there's many factors that could affect your "appetite".
One could be the amount of hydratiion you need.. Perhaps more water.
another could be that you ate a lower fat meal than you needed to
feel satisfied.
Perhaps your body is needing a bit more either in fat, or calories or
fiber content.. ..

Without posting your exact food intake and water intake.. It's so hard
to pinpoint.

Could also be a hormonal thing.. for myself anyways., I notice that I
have more 'hunger' closer to TOM.

Just a few suggestions..
I'm sure others on the board can offer advice and suggestions also

Posting a complete meal menu , with amounts etc... is the easiest way
for some of the veterans (not me ) of the NG to point out possible
causes.

Hope this helps.

It could be:

a) You're not eating enough fat

or

b) You're not eating enough calories

or

c) You're eating/drinking something that caused a blood sugar spike (coffee,
soda?)

or

d) It's TOM

or

e) something else entirely

If it's carb withdrawl, you wouldn't be feeling hunger pains. But you would
feel cravings.

Default Why am I hungry??

Here's what I find causes me hunger:

1. Low blood sugar. This can be a problem after an intense exercise session.
the "Two Gram Cure" on my web site can cut it off before I inhale the
contents of the fridge. If you eat too much carb at one time, you may get a
blood sugar rise followed by a "reactive" blood sugar low. That's why eating
carbs can cause cravings.

2. Sugar alcohols, even in the absense of a strong blood sugar spike they
will make me very hungry an hour or two after eating a "low carb" treat. I
assume this is because they cause an insulin out of proportion oto the blood
sugar rise.

3. Hormones, specifically progesterone. (Highest a week before a period.)
This hormonal hunger does not respond to food or the Two Gram Cure and has
to be ignored. It is because the hormones raise insulin (and blood sugar.)

4. Getting sick. When you are fighting off a cold, your body raises its
blood sugar. This can cause hunger.

I really do appreciate all of your advise/suggestions, but I'm over it
now. Don't know what it was, but I'm not hungry like that anymore. I
guess it just had something to do with just starting LC.
