Default whoosh fairy - why?

I'm trying to figure out WHY or WHEN the whoosh fairy comes. My
personal experience is that just when you've about lost your mind, and
you finally really splurge and have something outrageous like a half
cup of rice, boom, the whoosh fairy appears and you're four pounds
lighter overnight. That makes no sense at all to me.

Does anyone have any more experience to relate or wisdom to pass on?
obviously eating that many more carbs regularly won't do it regularly!

It's the darndest thing, isn't it? After losing about 50 pounds, I
started a stall that began sometime in August - nothing, not an ounce
lost for 2 1/2 months. I had a vacation week at the end of October, I
didn't go crazy, but I definitely had a few splurges and in general
upped my carbs. I started lifting 5 pound hand-weights too the same
week (gawd, I hate exercise). Suddenly this week...whoosh, a 2 pound
loss. So which was it, the hand-weights or the carb splurge or a
combo? I had tried to cut back on quantities, at least of protein,
but I can't - if I can't have carbs and I can't have a decent amount
of meat/poultry/fish, then this won't work. I can only put so much
butter on my broccoli... Kalish

it was probably a combo of both the weights and the upping of carbs. that
happens to me too.

This made me laugh, because my one and only visit from the whoosh fairy came
last year. I had been stalled with no weight loss for several weeks. I
took my nephew to see the Harry Potter movie, cracked and had a large butter
popcorn. I was beating myself up about it until the next day, when I
discovered that I had lost several pounds overnight! Go figure!

Default whoosh fairy - why?

A couple questions to the group --

Among those who have experienced whooshes, is everyone weighing
themselves daily, such that they know their weight the day before the
whoosh, as well as the day after? If not, it's possible that the
whoosh reading is just an erratic scale measurement.

Does anyone notice anything else for their whooshes at the same time?
For instance, extra exercise? Differences in toilet time (or amount)?

since I started the question: I weigh daily, in AM, at same time
relative to relieving myself. I've not been able to attribute teh
whoosh to any particular change in routine.

I have to admit, that last whoosh didn't stay... I'm back stuck at
137. I guess that's where my body wants to be. bother.

Mine are usually right after TOM ( I know TMI, but you asked LOL ) but since
I turned 38 last month, I am still waiting and not whooshing at all
but the good news is I'm not PG (took a test)

Default whoosh fairy - why?

My "whooshes" come on Thursday mornings. I bowl from 6-9pm on Wednesday
nights, which means that I don't eat any dinner until after 9pm. Because of
the late hour, I usually eat very little, a small salad perhaps. Like
clockwork, Thursday mornings, I'm down a pound or two. For me, I think the
whoosh fairy is tied into days when I just didn't consume as many calories and
have a bit of extra exercise. I've been considering skipping a few meals,
because with this lack of appetite or cravings, I'm just not hungry. I should
stop feeding myself at the appropriate times, and pay more attention to my
growling (or non-growling) tummy. I've maintained a regular eating schedule,
not wanting my body to go into "starvation mode" etc., or upsetting my
metabolism.

Does anybody else skip some meals on purpose? Have they noticed a whoosh
following?

Kira
