The runes were cast, the portents thundered and then freeborn
proclaimed: I found a BIG bottle of da vinci raspberry syrup for 5.99 at Marshall's ! My first da vinci syrup. Now to find that elusive guar gum !!! * Guar and xanthan are both available in healthfood stores. You might be able to find ThickenThin's Not Starch (a blend of guar, xanthan, and a few others) which is also lowcarb and will work just as well (in about the same amounts too). Then you can make a sugar free 'glaze' to go with your berries and whipped cream or cheesecake. Dust a bit of thickener in a cup or so of your favorite Davinci's flavor and whisk like mad. Ta-da. I am considering making an almond flour cake and using it, strawberries and such a glaze as a sugarfree lowcarb strawberry shortcake to give at my sister's wedding reception (a bbq) in July. Happy hunting. -- revek www.geocities.com/tanirevek/LowCarb.html NFILTER/NEWSPROXY with FAQ and sample filters available he www.geocities.com/tanirevek/usefulfiles.html Edmund: It is said, Percy, that civilized man seeks out good and intelligent company, so that, through learned discourse, he may rise above the savage and closer to God. I have been to the 4 healthfood stores nearby with no luck. The next step is to get on the phone and call the ones that require an excursion. Hmm. Online somewhere maybe ? Anyone ? * Then you can make a sugar free 'glaze' to go with your berries and whipped cream or cheesecake. Dust a bit of thickener in a cup or so of your favorite Davinci's flavor and whisk like mad. This sounds wonderful. Very creative ! As long as you may wind up online anyway, I prefer Expert Food's notStarch to either plain xanthan gum or guar gum: http://www.expertfoods.com/ThickenThin/notStarch.php Debbie |
