"Fat" Clothes

As for the rest of my cheaper wal-mart jeans and stuff......Adios amigos! No second thoughts, handed them down to other friends who could use them. A girl at work regularly organises 'clothes swap' afternoons where she gathers a bunch of friends of similar size and they all bring a few pieces of clothing they don't wear any longer, and swap them for something of someone else's. I'm guessing all the invitees are similarly fashion-conscious so the pickings would be of a pretty high quality. Rachel (New Zealand) |

Be honest now -- how many of you have trouble just dumping your old clothes? I am excited about buying new ones, that's not the point. Am I subconsciously afraid I'm not going to succeed in the long term??? Any thoughts from you all? Kathy B 185/148/135 The 'trick' I have found is that I have been LCing with a few friends who have always been a few sizes bigger than me.... so as we all reduce, I pass the 'big' clothes on to them, so they get the use out of them, saving a few dollars along the way, and I don't feel like I'm 'wasting' them as much... and as I've still got a few sizes to go before I reach goal, I've become an avid 'bargain shopper' and regularly go through the Op shops for the next sized wardrobe... when I get there however, I'll be spoiling myself rotten with a great new wardrobe of clothes that I won't want to 'grow out of' again in order to make it more worth my while to maintain it |

Kathy B 185/148/135 My clothes from when I weighed 250 are gone gone gone. And I am not consciously anticipating needing that size again. My diet is for *health* reasons, so staying on it, which got me down to this weight, will likely not pack the pounds back on. Unfortunately in the last 12 months I've managed to lose 3 kgs of water weight during induction, stay the same for 11 months, gain 3kgs back when I started taking avandia, and remain the same ever since. I thought the avandia was finally doing its job and I was beginning to lose a couple of weeks ago, but Saturday's weigh-in showed I was the same as ever. But I feel good and my cholesterol/tris are excellent, so I'm sticking with it, however frustrating it may be. cheers Rachel (New Zealand) |

Are you exercising at all? If so, are you strengthening or sculpting. That could have a little to do with it too. The exercising is going to be the hard part for me. "Fat" Clothes
I have gone through my closet several times and have donated 5 bags (30 gal
bags) of clothes. I have another one to go to a friend. I am now getting rid of my 13-14's because they look horrible. I have a condition my dad called "noassitol" which in Maple Lakespeak is no ass at all. so all my pants and shorts over a size 11-12 sag and look horrible. I took 6 more pairs out on Tuesday. but I buy most of my stuff at garage sales and I am more fashionable than I've been for a long time! LOL We have these stores called "Turn Style" which is consignment designer clothes and "Plato's Closet" which is more teenager-young adult clothes but I buy there too.-- Lori 220/150/135 LC since 1/17/03 Sept Challenge 155/150 http://community.webshots.com/user/lorismiller Back to Curves 6/30/03 |

It's an insulin-sensitising drug without the side-effects of metformin/glucophage. I was warned of possible initial weight gain and ongoing fluid retention, but I had hoped it would level off and the weight loss would start. Maybe less salt and more water would help? /shrugs Just a thought. I don't generally have a lot of salt, but if I get slack with the water I do retain badly, especially since taking avandia. I'm on spironolactone, a potassium-sparing diuretic, but only a very low dose as I get bad cramp in my lower legs in the evenings as the fluid drains otherwise. It could be that your losing inches instead of pounds which, imo, is just as good. I wish ... certainly haven't noticed any difference in my clothes though. My face hasn't changed in the slightest. Are you exercising at all? If so, are you strengthening or sculpting. That could have a little to do with it too. Sporadic walking is about it. It's a bit of a chicken-and-egg situation - I know exercise will help vastly but until I lose weight it's nearly impossible to get into a regular exercise routine. I have fairly bad chronic back pain so walking is often quite painful (ironic since I know that losing weight will help take some of the strain off my back). The exercising is going to be the hard part for me. I have "never" been an active person so firming up what 3 babies did to me is going to be hard work. /shudders at those 2 dirty words Me neither. But I feel good and my cholesterol/tris are excellent, so I'm sticking with it, however frustrating it may be. Isn't that the really important thing? Not necessarily losing weight but getting healthy again? Keep up the good work. {{{{{Rachel}}}}} It is important, but I hate being this fat, not fitting nice clothes, not being able to be more active, feeling people judging me for my weight, and so on.
