Default New to Group - 3 Weeks So Far

Hi all,

I 'm new to this group and thought I'd share my LC story with all of you.

I started my program 3 weeks ago on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004 at 225 lbs.
Prior to this, I had become unhappy with my excess weight to the extent that
I avoided looking in mirrors because I did not like my appearance. Now,
three weeks later, I stand in front of mirrors to take an honest look at my
progress. I am no longer "hiding" or "in denial". I am now happy that I
have taken charge of myself and that I have an ongoing plan to get healthy
and to improve my appearance. I feel good.

I lost 5 pounds of water weight in the first day. Now, 3 weeks later, I am
at 2004 lbs. In the first 2 weeks, I experienced some of the effects that
some others have mentioned on this group: dizziness and unclear thinking.
Those effects are gone now. Ketosis/Lyposis did not show up for the first
week, but now I see it every morning. (I usually have my major meal of the
day in the evening.) I'm not sure if the Ketosis is due to the burning of
the fat in the food I eat or due to the burning of the fat stored in my
body, or both. Who can know for sure? ...But I am losing weight. Perhaps
it's due to the fact that I find it easy not to over-eat. The appetite
suppression effect of a low-carb diet is a very helpful thing.

I'll being share more with all of you good people in the weeks ahead.

I think 2004 pounds must be a new world record.

Welcome to LC. Sounds like you found what works for you.

I am glad you are and will be sharing. Cool!
I started also the same day you did. I started at 267. Now weighing in
at 244. Closer and closer to dropping below 240 is what I think. Can't
wait until I go below 200, having a party!

I too did not like looking in mirrors, looked at the face only really.
I started feeling really good about it all last week. Went and got my
hair all chopped off. Probably lost a pound or two with that. Got a
short and sassy hairdo now. Easier to take care of. Did my eyebrows
too for the first time ever. They look sexy. Wearing clothes I havn't
worn in ages. I think I am just feeling really good about the weight
loss, takeing more care of Me. Want to look as good as I feel.

Congrats on the weight loss with you, and look forward to reading you
again soon.
