Default Day 16 of 100 Days

Day 16 of 100 Days and still at 229.

Just got on my balance scale and the indicator is still hovering at
229, so still 7 pounds gone.

Had again more calories yesterday than I wanted to have – about 1500.
(Don't eat the meatballs! Slap! Don't eat the meatballs! Slap!) Also
went up my little hill again last evening – beautiful night, and we
made it to the top just as the sun was sliding down the last bit over
the horizon.

At 229 pounds, a rough estimate is that I need about 3000 calories to
sustain me. (13 calories per pound (because I'm a mildly active male)
times 229 = 2977.) At this point, If I take in five hundred calories a
day, then I will lost about 5 pounds a week. (3000 – 500 = 2500. 2500
x 7 (days) = 17,500 calorie deficit per week. 17,500 divided by 3500
(calories in a pound) = 5 pounds loss per week.

If I take in a 1000 calories a day, I will lost about 4 pounds a week,
1500 calories will lead to 3 pound weight loss a week.

At this point, I'm lucky, because when I get to my target weight of
190, it's going to take fewer calories to maintain my weight and it
will be more difficult to lose weight on a given calorie level. At
190, taking in a 1000 calories will lead to a weight loss of slightly
less than 3 pounds a week.

Anyway, it's all a matter of numbers, of calories and calories out.
The above numbers are WAGS (wild-ass guesses) but they are probably
pretty close to the mark. The scale helps persuade me that I'm not too
far from the mark and I guess I want to keep doing what I'm doing,
although lowering the calories another notch or two makes sense. I
haven't been recording calories on an ongoing basis the last several
days as I can't find my little recording book (hardly an excuse) but I
have several record forms at work and I will dig one out to use today
as soon as I get there.

I hope everyone has a great day today and in the months to follow!

Let's all be "good enough for long enough" to reach our health goals!

Yours,

Caleb

Caleb! You're in the 220s! Congratulations!

All of your numbers seem right. At this point I'm losing approximately 0.8
lb/day by eating 400-500 calories. These are mostly from cooked veggies, a
daily pad of butter, and a cup of milk every second day.

I expect the 0.8 figure will fall off later. I remember from my adventure 20
years ago, when I got down to the low 170s, that the last few pounds were
brutally hard to lose.

Keep the faith,
Lazy

Lazy -- I've copied your recipe and am posting it in big letters in my
kitchen. I hope to follow it tonight when I get home. (The only
addition I anticipate making is skim milk in my coffee.)

You're doing GREAT!!!

Yours in awe!

Caleb
