A nice walk would easily make up the difference. Are you sure you are hungry since quitting smoking, or maybe just *think* you are hungry because you are trying hard to think about something other than those cigarettes? It is very common to substitute one habit for another - needing something in your hand/mouth to substitute for the hand/mouth of the cigarette. I know this is the trouble I got into when I quit many years ago (before taking it up again sigh. Things I associated with cigarettes, such as phone or morning coffee, now found me reaching for something else to put in the hand/mouth. The obvious was food. I finally switched to plastic straws - sounds silly but it did the trick for me. Gave me something to hang onto at the time, could put it in the mouth if I felt like it, and no calories. The pounds stopped going on and the looking/thinking about food stopped. Maybe finding a substitution other than food would work for you? Even chewing gum (opt for sugarless) ... might get you over that initial hurdle. Congrats on dropping the habit! Joyce I am finding sticks of celery and carrot are helping. I am also sucking an odd "Imp" (liquorish tablet) It's not too bad now Celery and carrots are wonderful substitutes, will accomplish the same thing with little to no caloric damage. Good for you! Glad those feelings are now subsiding for you. Joyce Jen |
