I see. You want it to be retouched, like in Playgirl magazine or something

Let me see if I can parse that statement.... (G)

But, no, I actually do know the answer. I don't like the new camera -
shows all the sun damage, especially with the flash.

Yes, this is a new camera as the "old" one started making grinding
noises when I tried turning it on 3 weeks ago.

Three cheers for Fred's chest hair for resurfacing you. How are you?
How's the new house? How's your husband?

I'm still around, lurking, but not regularly. I'm doing fine in all
regards, except the weight loss one. We got in the habit of eating fast
foods with all the packing and moving (my grandmother moved in with us too).
Moving two households is a big job. Anyway, I've packed on more weight,
back up to 195, but at least I'm not up where I was when I started. I have
been OP for 4 days now and I feel in control again, don't know why, but I
do. I'm determined to get back to losing and reach my goal, so hopefully
I'm on my way now!

Yes, it's hot up here too. Nicholas and I and my parents took a 4 day trip
to Kamloops to visit family and it was sure hot there. 97°F for a few days.
Sure looked forward to getting back home where at the highs the temperature
might reach 30°F. Our temps are probably much like yours. Nicholas and I
have been enjoying the yard. The property is 1/2 an acre and it's all lawn
and flower gardens. The gardens are pretty overgrown, so I've been weeding
them out and finding things that I didn't even know were there. Last night
for instance I cut down this big ugly daisy plant that was falling over and
looking bad and there underneath all that mess was a beautiful hosta with
the nicest flowers. The gardens need a major overhaul so that's what I'm
working at now. My dad is cutting some cedar planks with his mill and then
he's going to bring them down and help me build some raised beds for a
vegetable garden. Of course, there is still LOTS of unpacking to do, but
that can wait until the weather changes.

How have you been? Have you made any trips up our way recently?
Congratulations on maintaining. You had your one year anniversary not long
ago didn't you? Keep up the good work!

I couldn't resist!

I'm doing fine. The new house is great, nice and big, no one gets in each
other's way. As I was telling Fred, the yard is nice too and Nicholas and I
have been thoroughly enjoying the gardening thing. We're finding all kinds
of interesting things out there, getting nice and dirty and just having a
great time with it!

DH is doing as well as can be expected. Still has days where his bowels
give him lots of trouble, but that's something that he's learning to live
with.

Weight loss obviously hasn't been at the top of my "to do" list. We've been
eating too much fast food, etc. and my weight has gone up to 195. I've been
doing well for the last 4 days though and I'm determined to keep it up!

You're doing wonderfully and the pictures on your site are great. Have you
reached goal yet?

Well, all I can is that you do know the program. You know it works
and we all know it is not exactly easy. I'm sure the stress of the
move, even, if ultimately wonderful has made it hard. Good luck.

You're right, I do know the program works, I just have to stick to it.

The
move
did make sticking to the program difficult, especially since fast food is

so
easy when
there is so much going on and so little time to prepare healthier meals.
We've certainly been eating healthier for the last little while. Maybe
it'll show at next WI!

I will accept part of the excuse (G) but you can find things even at
fast food which are not totally terrible. But I can understand ease.
Best at the WI.

You're right about that. I WI on Monday and am hoping for a nice loss, but
any loss will do just fine.

It is been in the high 70's a lot which is too hot for me and higher
and they are calling for the 90's the end of the week. Unpacking can
wait till the unending rains.

I agree. I've been in the basement looking at that room full of stuff

and
thinking that I'd much rather be out enjoying the nice weather than

digging
through boxes and bags of stuff that is mostly going to go into a garage
sale next summer. DH is a pack rat and can't bear to get rid of stuff,

even
if we never use it, so I'm sure that making some of it disappear won't be

an
easy task!

I've got too much junk, too. Been getting better as tossing or giving
it away rather than waiting for the next garage sale.

I toss stuff when DH isn't looking over my shoulder, when he is I can't get
rid of anything!

How have you been? Have you made any trips up our way recently?
Congratulations on maintaining. You had your one year anniversary not

long
ago didn't you? Keep up the good work!

I was up in Vancouver in June, met Luxembourg friends for dinner at
C's Restaurant. It was decadently wonderful. Stayed at the hostel in
downtown. Friends are up there camping right now - well, the Rockies.
I was invited to go but as it was originally suppose to be the Sierra,
I opted out - Grizzlies!!! (g)

I haven't been to C's but have checked out their website. Their menu

looks
really interesting. What did you end up having? I know the hostel you

are
talking about. I know the downtown area fairly well. Nicholas and I

were
both born at St. Paul's Hospital on Burrard, which is close to the

hostel.

I had a scallop dish that was simple but great. I also had frois gra
(now I can't spell it again) which is definitely not on WW list of
anything (G) It was pricy. My friends treated me (G)

Mmmm... the scallop dish sounds wonderful. I love seafood and may have to
try C's out sometime when I'm in the city.

Can't say I blame you for opting out on the camping trip. I think I'd do
the same. DH and I went camping on our honeymoon and I wouldn't sleep in
the tent! We just have a small Ford Ranger, but I made him sleep in the
back with me under the canopy! He wasn't very impressed.

We did 9 days of backpacking in 2001 up there and it was somewhat
nerve wracking a few times lower down in forest. And in many of our
day hikes. Jasper area.

Grizzly country! I think I would have opted out on that trip! As I said,
camping in a tent is not my thing...

Speaking of grizzlies - there are grizzlies up one of the inlets near

where
my parents live - just a few hours by boat actually. Here's a link to

the
area we are in.
http://www.vancouverisland.com/Maps/?id=82
If you notice at the top center of the map where it says Princess Louisa
Inlet then just to the left of that where the inlet is a bit wider - the
grizzlies lurk!! My parents are in Egmont which is just at the opening

of
that inlet. I'm in Sechelt, which is just south of that a bit further.
Thank goodness we don't have grizzlies where we are. Lately there have

been
problems with black bears and cougars here.

Just looking at the maps makes that area look so enchanting (ignoring
the bears). All those inlets and water and mountains.

Perhaps you'll make a trip to our area some day. I love living fairly close
to the water. Grew up living on waterfront property and my parents still
live on the same property. Everyone in the family had boats, so we were
constantly out on the water. Do you get out fishing/boating much where you
are?

A funny story.... our employee goes home after work one night and the

next
morning his wife opens the door on her way to work and finds that Ian

left
the door of his car open all night and there is a black bear, comfortably
sitting on the front seat eating rice cakes! Anyway the darn thing ate

all
the rice cakes before making it's way out of the car and back into the
woods -- Theresa was late for work!

I love it. At least, it did not tear up the car like they do in
Yosemite and the Sierra - or did it?

No, it didn't tear up the car, just enjoyed it's rice cakes and left.

Again, best at WI. I have to bike to mine tomorrow since I'm taking
the car in for service. Should be interesting (G) Also, that means
the WI will not track with other clothing WI's.

Thanks. I took my car in yesterday for a head gasket and power steering
pump replacement, then on the way home my power steering stopped working. I
had to pull over and get DH to drive the rest of the way. Have to take it
back this morning. They think the NEW power steering pump might have a
problem! Oh well, I guess sooner or later I'll be able to drive it again.
