Intermittant nausea and vomiting
My husband and I began Atkins on September 15 (so we're still in induction).
We've both lost weight already, but I've been experiencing something my husband has not - nausea and, twice now including this morning, vomiting. I HATE feeling so lousy...what on earth could be causing it? The first time the vomiting occurred was on Monday, and I dismissed it, thinking I worked out too soon after breakfast. Tuesday I felt fine. On Wednesday I experienced nausea again, but no vomiting, and felt better later in the day. This morning I again experienced vomiting, and this time I hadn't even had breakfast yet, only water. I'm also experiencing hiccups quite a lot. I know for a fact I'm not pregnant (don't ask me how I can be so sure unless you want some squicky details), so it's not morning sickness. I don't seem to be experiencing any other symptoms of a bug. On Monday I wondered if perhaps it was the ham I had with my egg for breakfast, but that doesn't account for this morning. I have a lot more weight to lose than my husband does, and I'm the food/sugar addict, not him, so could this be some sort of withdrawal? Any insights would be welcome; I'm getting awfully discouraged and ready to give up. Jade |

My mother (who isn't doing Atkins or any other kind of diet) gets intermittent sickness like that, and she usually puts it down to 'something she ate'. Did your husband also have this problem? Did you and he eat the same things? Could it be psychological? -- Lexin www.redrosepress.co.uk www.livejournal.com/~lexin LC since 9 June 2003 (300/263/182) |

... I HATE feeling so lousy...what on earth could be causing it? Ketosis can cause nausea in some people. It is a little bit unusual to experience it this far into induction, but it is not unheard of. Try upping your carb limit by 5-15g, drink more water, and don't let yourself get hungry. As counterintuitive as it may feel, when you are experiencing nausea you will probably feel better if you eat something. Hope you feel better. Intermittant nausea and vomiting
I started Atkins the first of September and starting Sunday afternoon the
21st I started the sick at my stomach feeling that progressed to the point I had to lie down in a dark room to get feeling better. I have kept a little sour stomach feeling since then. I made it through induction and have tried to keep my carbs below 20. My food intake is the same most days. "Jade" wrote in message ... If you are through induction, why are you keeping your carbs below 20? The curious want to know.... :-) BJ |

Make sure you're eating the recommended veggies! -- Robin in Michigan 212/204/150 - Custom LC - September 2, 2003 http://photos.yahoo.com/robintheloser (Atkins from 1/7/03 - 6/5/03 - lost 46 lbs!) |

Intermittant nausea and vomiting
I am a creature of bad habits. It would be easy for me to "Get off" the
diet and return to what got me to 365 lbs. I am now at 345 and want to make a lifestyle change that will not allow me to gain back weight and add more. I have been 190 lbs 4 times in my life and in order to make my life productive I need to keep it there once I reach the goal. "BJ in Texas" wrote in message . com... I understand, but if you force yourself to keep to a diet that makes you ill, you will eventually go off it anyway. Try adjusting the plan a *small amount. Extra veggies, and perhaps cut back on the dairy a little. If upping your carb count a little will make the sour stomach go away, it will be easier to stay with the plan for life. revek |

Could be totally unrelated. Just might a coincidence it's happening now,
during your diet. Safe bet is see your doc. Rich R. "Jade" wrote in message ... My husband and I began Atkins on September 15 (so we're still in induction).
