Skinny Model Ban
"oregonchick" wrote in message . .. "A Ross" wrote in message ... Story at http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe...els/index.html Personally, I'm not quite sure how I feel about this...but I'm a rail sitter on most topics anyway. I know some of you have struggled with eating disorders and many of us have body image issues--will a ban on waif-models help? In my opinion, not until the rest of the media and style industries follow suit. Amy (not a super model) 168/117/... I don't think the ban will help. What would be super refreshing to me though is to see some "real" looking women with more typical proportions modelling. Like, a size 10 or something... They did that with those ads for Dove products - using "real" women. I remember reading male columnists referring to the models as cows. It's pretty sad when our culture's vision of ideal beauty is created by men who like boys instead of women. -- the volleyballchick |
