ALC is quite a bit nicer... Active Low-Carber Forum. Higher level of
intelligence with it's posters also. Lower traffic so you don't have to
read 100 posts every time there's a break in the case. I've been
following from ALC lately instead of LCF.

I have to laugh -- I was censored at LCF because I said I wouldn't
buy a diet book written by a woman who still weighed 300 pounds. I
guess if I had gotten a posse together to say that, it would have been
okay? LOL!

IMO, LCF has WAY too much censorship - and as you noted, it's not done
in a fair and impartial manner.

It's also fun to watch people who can't spell their way out of a paper
bag comment on the spelling and grammatical errors at the KK site --
it's priceless, really. The "good guys" have a pretty high standard
for "Kimmer" and anyone else associated with the KK site -- they just
don't seem to think those standards need to be applied to anyone else,
including themselves.

Some of the arguments against Kimmer are much stupider than Kimmer
herself is; some are good arguments though. It's a mixed bag.

But as far as the Russian Bride pics for the befores/afters and that
"Kimmer" seems to be morbidly obese (and never lost the weight in the
first place) -- those things seem to be confirmed by multiple sources.
And, for the record, I think "Kimmer" isn't too bright -- all of this
uproar could have been avoided early on, and rather than engage in
some serious damage control, she seems hell bent on making the problem
worse with every decision she makes. There does seem to be a "just
drink the Kool-Aide" mentality over at good ol' KK -- but I'm also
wondering what flavor they're serving at LCF these days.

The problem with web forums is how good they are depends on who's
running them. It's a mixed bag, a good web forum avoids the spam and
trolls of Usenet, but the bad ones take censorship to silly levels and
make you long for the spam and trolls in comparison.

I'll check that out -- I wondered if you were still watching LCF. I
admit I don't read every single post -- too much of it is just noise
and back-patting each other on how cute and wonderful they are.

I actually did post over there the other day. Some of the responses I
got were well considered and I would have like to continue the
conversation. But I would have had to wade through so much crap to
find the ones worth answering, I just gave up. A couple of people
said things that were just plain stupid, and when I said I wouldn't be
bothered I got the expected, "Oooo! We must have hit a nerve! Quack!
Quack!" *sigh* As I anticipated, someone even asked if I might be
"Kimmer" -- I hope they were kidding because that was too stupid for
words.

I have to laugh -- I was censored at LCF because I said I wouldn't

I agree it's too much, and that's bad enough. To have it be so hit
and miss just makes it worse. One of the admins is actively
participating in the "Kimmer" thread(s) now.

I can certainly understand that they wanted to create a safe place for
"fatties" -- and I get that. But when you look at some of the remarks
about "Kimmer's" weight, or Tippy's spelling, or Dr. Mark's "trailer
park" you can see that all the "love" they think they've got going
over there is only an implied insult away. I'm actually pretty happy
I never made any "friends" over there -- they're like a pack of wild
dogs and won't quit until there's nothing left -- except maybe
bleached bones.

It's also fun to watch people who can't spell their way out of a paper

Yes -- I agree with you on this one. And you certainly can't tell
anyone with a stupid argument that it *is* a stupid argument.

But as far as the Russian Bride pics for the befores/afters and that
"Kimmer" seems to be morbidly obese (and never lost the weight in the
first place) -- those things seem to be confirmed by multiple sources.

I much prefer newsgroups to web forums for that very reason. I had
quite an interesting exchange with an LCF admin last year trying to
find out where that tricky little line was. They concluded the
conversation by telling me that asking them about policy wasn't
allowed. So I guess you just have to step in it before you can find
out where the line is.

The "Kimmer" thread peeps know that, too. I don't know if you noticed
or not all the bowing and scraping that went on in the first thread
because the admins *didn't* shut it down. They decided then they were
on the side of right in a justified crusade and it was off to the
races.

Well, I'm rambling on and on. Maybe I'd fit right in over there after
all. ;-)

hey, just for the record:

When I said don't tempt me, I meant: don't tempt me to sit and read
through a thousand threads to get the whole story -- which I actually
would if I had the time but I've seen poseurs run amok before with
just about the same results. I swear on a hundred thousand bibles that
I have never started trouble over at LCF, personally. I've never
posted there -- usenet's just fine for me, I've been wearing it for
years.

Just read every tenth or twentieth page. :-)

It's kind of like a soap opera -- you can not watch it for weeks and
when you turn it back on, they're still doing exactly what they were
doing the last time you watched it.

And aside from watching the "good guys" rationalize how they *are* the
"good guys," you really aren't missing anything. ;-)

However, I believe what you're saying. People get so wound up in their
internets they forget that typing into little boxes is not --
entirely-- an authentic group experience. They get...you
know...delirious with the fake drama of it all and wake up a few
months later thinking thank god none of this **** happened in real
life with people I actually know.

These women are on a mission that will, apparently, not end until
there is nothing left but a crater.

They complained that the KK diet was too low in calories and fat. So
now Tippy is, it seems, reworking it to add more calories and fat, so
they are complaining that it's NOT the KK diet! LOL!

Kimmer is caught on tape getting into her car and the news guy walks
over to her to talk to her. She, of course, doesn't know who he is,
so she's smiling and nice (like you'd be if someone was asking
directions). When he starts asking questions, she says, "No comment"
and gets in her car and just ignores him. She was slammed for smiling
and being nice to him. And then she was slammed for not commenting.

These are just a couple of examples. I'm trying to think of something
-- *anything* she could possibly do at this point and *not* be slammed
for it -- but I can't think of anything. Hell, even if she died,
they'd bitch about not being able to chase her around anymore. LOL!!
On the other hand this seems to be what Kimmiekins was banking on, and
yeah, I saw that I was kicking through the ashes of what must have
been one *hell* of a thermonuclear flame war.

Well, it would appear that the forums at the KK site are now pretty
much a ghost town, with speculation that the admins are over there
talking to themselves. Might as well -- you really, apparently, can't
have much of a conversation with the messages being deleted almost as
fast as they are posted.

Ah, Linda Hamilton, from Terminator 2.

Let's see what we can dig up about that.

Lookie here, Entertainment Weekly article from 1991, by Margot
Dougherty:

``Hamilton, 34, was a recent mother (her son, Dalton Abbott, is now 20
months old) with a few pounds of baby fat left when personal trainer
Anthony Cortes began working with her last summer, 13 weeks before T2
shooting started. They trained for three hours a day, six days a week,
usually in the garage of the actress' Santa Monica home. Hamilton also
shed 12 pounds on a nonfat diet that revolved around cereal with skim
milk, chicken, and dry salads. The regimen continued throughout the
grueling six-month shoot. Her drills included aerobic exercise
(running, biking, swimming, or stair-climbing) followed by free
weights interspersed with mini-trampoline work-and, for dessert,
walking lunges or an abdominal series.''

Low fat diet, and lots of exercise.

And what's your point?

Did you register, or do you just lurk?

I noticed, too, the players seem to be the same. From what I can
tell, most of the people posting at ALC are from LCF?

I guess it really is a small world. :-D

Can't help you there, sorry!

Someone (don't remember who) posted that, though she still weighed 300
pounds, she'd been doing LC for long enough, and knew enough about it,
that she could write a book about it -- and was actually considering
doing that. I wasn't the only one who thought she was full of it --
the whole thread was pulled.

It also wasn't the only thing I commented on, but I have to admit I
think about it a lot every time I see a message posted at LCF about
Heidi's weight.

It's also fun to watch people who can't spell their way out of a paper

Apparently not. I guess the original fee was about $15 when the KK
site started last year, and it's gone up from time to time to an
all-time high of $60 just before the WW article came out. *That* is
supposedly where she made all her money -- from the subscriptions
generated by that magazine article. When they say she's taken in $2
million, that's just from figuring 40,000 new members times $60. As
far as I know, there isn't any real confirmation about how much money
she's made, other than someone mentioning that she had $1 million in a
PayPal account. It's more speculation.

But as far as the Russian Bride pics for the befores/afters and that
"Kimmer" seems to be morbidly obese (and never lost the weight in the

Yeah, with a decent newsreader you can do your own censorship.
